If hagg reaches his potential he's a do-it-all, total package defender. - JAKEw1234
And if Beaulieu reaches his, he's a first pair, star level offensive defenseman. |

I'd say 1st pair, maybe not star level. |

Hagg's all around game is more solid, but he's also more inconsistent. Beaulieu is a very good skater and talented offensive defenseman, who has shown more consistency to this point.
If I could get him and Moen for Talbot and Coburn right now, I'd probably agree to it. But the Simmonds/Plekanec part kiboshes it for me. - Jsaquella
I would be okay with that, although would prefer to see Mezzy leave but nobody is gonna give up more than a bag of peanuts for him. |

wow you honeslty took the words out o fmy mouth from another thread yesterday.
100% agree.
alot has to do with team needs imo. if you have a stud Offensive dman than no real need for Beaulieu, but if you dont, he could be just he right fit |

If this deal is completed, Homer has pretty much retooled the defensive core to Lava's liking. I'm intrigued by the rumor, maybe flip Plekanec for that scoring winger? |

There'd have to be another trade, but I doubt the truthfulness of the rumor |

i'm gonna take a guess and say you look at G as a more complete version of briere. like danny he has a concussion history and you're concerned that a guy his size will wear down and never play up to his contract. how close did i come? - isaiah520
I was thinking all of that but the briere part. The player he reminds me off for some reason that didn't even play for the flyers yet was very good in his heyday was lafontaine albeit a more watered down version yes. |

Pretty much sums it up. He'd be a better fit in Philly than Montreal, because the Habs have PK. |

I'm not sure why they would want to move Plekanec unless they feel Galchenyuk is ready for a larger role. |

thats the only reason i think there could be something to it
but then i think nope, they could get way more than a coburn/talbot package for him from some other team.
i would however go simmonds for beaulieu straight up |

He is, no question, but in his draft year, he was similar to Hagg....solid all around guy, nothing flashy |

He turned up the flash with that playoff run London had, that's really when he showed his game. He picked up this past season and continued. |

They have a fairly big number of centers on their roster, too. Plekanec is the best of the bunch, but perhaps Eller or Galchenyuk could step into a larger role, or maybe they feel Briere will thrive given a bigger role himself. |

That's intriguing. It's a big role of the dice with a guy who is a key piece of the Flyers future plans. |

Simmonds trade value will never be higher. He is signed long-term to pretty friendly cap number for his production. Does a lot of the dirty work. He's a younger Hartnell and more experienced McGinn. |

We already have a West Coast Philly with LA, we don't need a Canadian Philly with Jagr, Simmonds, Briere, Coburn, and Talbot. |

I got high hopes for McGinn. He seems to be one of those players who plays to the level of the players around him. When he was given time on first and second line last year he was great along the boards and had a good sense of open space between the crease and the hash marks. |

Younger faster Hartnell and more skilled, grittier McGinn |
