Agreed. Most of the rumors out there -- and fans putting together their own proposals -- are nothing more than cries for attention. In the cases of professionals, the attention results in clicks on their sites, which results in revenue.

As to the part of your post that I bolded, I heartily agree.

That was because of Crosby. After the playoffs Giroux had to have that wrist surgery, and told the media it was because during their series with the penguins that Crosby was constantly slashing his wrists whenever they were skating near each other. I just remembered that, thanks for bringing it up
It's one more reason that I don't think Crosby deserves to be listed with the all time greats. He's as obnoxious as a 10 year old and has the leadership skills and maturity of one too.

If you hold up the list of all time greats to include more than just performance based criteria, and you think player X doesnt fit that mold, then that is your right as a fan to think that.

however, on a purely statistical basis, i question the ability of someone to remain unbiased if they dont include crosby in the list of the games all time great players
