They were the first of the big 4 (well, 3 really, Sixers don't count) to win a championship in my lifetime. As much as I loved being at the game today, I'd be cool letting Hamels/Howard/Rollins/Utley/Ruiz retire as Phillies no matter how bad they get, because those guys got me one. - jmatchett383
im so torn for that very reason as well. i dont typically let my head get beat out by my heart in evaluating moves, but i dont want to see utley moved, even though it makes sense.
i would like howard moved just for humors sake, because i dont think it can be done |

The Phillies are so.... depressing. I've been saying for the past 2 yrs now that they should rebuild. Utley, Lee, Hamels, Papelbon etc etc could net some good returns. - idiotsallofu
Id keep hamels the rest can go. But we'll probably get tied down to the slugs for another 6 years and relive the late 90's as the "dude" mentioned. |

If people want to complain about a bad GM, look at Amaro. |

Yes, they'll all get long term deals with NMCs. |

The Phillies are headed back to the late 1990's...of course, they've won a couple of series now, so Ruin Tomorrow Jr will start trading minor leaguers out, rather than selling off the old, half crippled big salary guys that Gillick won with 5 years ago. - Jsaquella
It's been very clear Amaro's entire tenure that pitching was never the issue. The Phillies have been getting worse offensively. Since they won the World Series. Pitching helps, but when Doc is lights out in the playoffs and still loses 1-0, there are bigger problems besides starting pitching. |

If they don't trade cliff lee by the deadline, the whole front office should be fired |

The construction of the lineup was not well thought out. Too many strikeouts, and an inability to manufacture runs was a killer for them after 2009. They got to be a feats or famine offensive team. |

They should be open to trading any veteran not named Dom Brown. I have no idea how Papelbon isn't a Tiger by now. |

Always felt like Amaro is afraid to do anything that isn't a "sure bet". Halladay, Lee, those big trades were trades any GM could make. He doesn't have the knowledge to actually swing a deal that isn't a clear win. |

They have better starting pitching now then when they won the World Series. The bullpen is pretty bad, though. Hitting is the big problem, i don't know how many times i have seen this team load the bases with nobody out and not score one run. |

that's been going on since they won... a simple change in philosophy from relying on the long ball to manufacturing runs could have fixed this. But that would have required retiring charlie... |

Even when he traded Lee away, he made a bad deal. The only guy he got who has seen the bigs is Aumont, and he's struggled with control issues and been hit hard at times |

They are primarily concerned with attendance. I don't think they have the guts to blow it up with still a lot of fair weather support down there |

That will erode and force their hands. They saw the backlash after trading Pence and Victorino last summer. |

Is he correct about this?:
Sam Carchidi @BroadStBull 14m
For those asking, Laughton can start yr with #Flyers and it wouldn't count toward his entry-level deal til his 10th game this season. |

yes. just like he played the first 5 last season, only number of games he could play was reduced because of shortened season. |

I believe so, since he is still eligible to be a "slide" contract |

Take what most of those rumor mongers say with a grain of salt. Incarcerated Bob's page reported the Flyers had traded for Clowe last year at the dealine. - Jsaquella
Hmmm...that's borderline criminal |

I forget if you've voiced your opinion on this, would you rather see Scott in the NHL or back in juniors next season? |
