What do you think he'll be in the NHL? - JAKEw1234
I think he is going to be a 4-6 guy. Player who can eat minutes, help on PP, good puck mover.
He reminds me of Gustafsson but more talented. |

It's amazing how they put him with players like that and fans get moody that he isn't the same player he was. He was carrying beer league wingers for stints and he still produces at close to a point per game. It's exciting to see how he'll perform with some real wingers. - JAKEw1234
He played on 9 different line combos last year. Eight the year before. The last time he had semi-regular linemates was the season Gagne was in Tampa and he was generally on Vinny's line with either Teddy Purcell or Sean Bergenheim |

Right but top 4, top line, top 6? Powerplay quarterback? or just a powerplay specialist who can't handle too much time on ice? - JAKEw1234
Oh, my bad. Hopefully top-4, maybe a nice #3. Think Kimmo Timonen lite. Also:

That's part of why I am excited for Vinny.
That, and I have always liked to watch him play |

So, in summary for today:
- Prospect camp getting ready to open
- Flyers need to trade one of Mez/Coburn
- Trade for AP, offer sheet AP, trade for AP, stand pat, offer sheet AP, trade for AP
- Lecavalier jerseys on sale
About it? - jmatchett383
I wished we had one of these summaries every night. Saved me couple hours of reading. |

I'm just angry when Tampa fans say "oh he's washed up and past his prime" when even Sidney Crosby would struggle playing on 9 different line combos in a year. |

I see him as being at least 2 years out. At least one more in college and 1/2 season or more in the AHL. - jmatchett383
I'd say you may not see him in the NHL for more like 3 or 4 years. |

I see a lot of Ron Francis parallels with Vinny.
He will be the second line center (presumably) who will bring leadership, stability, and more than decent secondary scoring.
He'll also give us some first line center insurance if *knock on wood* G gets nicked and needs to sit a spell.
And unlike Francis, he was free! |

I'm hoping that steady(and talented linemates0 plus the change of scenery gets him fired up.
If he turns out to be Francis Part 2, I;d be jazzed. |

It is a good thing Lavi doesn't flip the line combos around a lot
Wait a minute

Floor is so low I don't see a team taking Mez to get above it. What would it take to get Schultz from Edmonton? |

Hopefully some parallels can be drawn between him and Selanne. His production started to decline steadily for 4 or 5 years, and when he was 33 he had his 32 point season for Colorado. I could guess then people thought he was washed up, and heavily into his decline. Then Anaheim (re)acquired him, and at ages 34 and 35 he put up 90 and 94 point seasons. I just hope we can look back in a year and draw some similarities. |

Which one
And there are still cap floor teams that might take him as a low risk high reward sort of opportunity. |

Islanders are the only team not currently over the floor and they still need to sign 3 more to get to 22. |

Teemu was dragging a bum knee around with him in Colorado. He had it operated on after the season. It took an entire year to rehabilitate it. |

Im starting to warm up to the idea that Mezzy and Coby aren't going anywhere unless Homer gets a good return. Mez when healthy of course can play top 4 minutes. If either get traded then fine but I doubt its just a salary dump. |
|
|
|
Lecavalier will also be helped by the end of the merry go round on his line. Look at the Tampa Bay line combos from the last couple years. Vinny has played with everybody, but really nobody has stuck.
Perhaps that plays a part in his "taking nights off"....kind of hard to be up for every game when you're carrying 4th liners. - Jsaquella
I think the trapping, sit back style TB played in recent years bored Vinny. Playing a more attacking style that Lavi uses will help him from taking nights off. |

I agree, but the cap situation is scary. When does the 10% overage expire, regular or preseason? |
