Teemu was dragging a bum knee around with him in Colorado. He had it operated on after the season. It took an entire year to rehabilitate it. - 77rams
Vinny's had his own issues with injury |
|
|
|
I see a lot of Ron Francis parallels with Vinny.
He will be the second line center (presumably) who will bring leadership, stability, and more than decent secondary scoring.
He'll also give us some first line center insurance if *knock on wood* G gets nicked and needs to sit a spell.
And unlike Francis, he was free! - 77rams
Francis was a much better defensive player than LeCavalier |

Coburn would start the package. What else? - jstross
There isn't too much we could add to that to make it even value. We'd either be over or under. Maybe Laughton? I think a bigger package might need to be worked from both sides. |

Im starting to warm up to the idea that Mezzy and Coby aren't going anywhere unless Homer gets a good return. Mez when healthy of course can play top 4 minutes. If either get traded then fine but I doubt its just a salary dump. - flyerfan28

Who can we trade Meszaros to? Who needs to be picked up off the Cap floor?? |

Islanders do, and I hear they're in need of an offensively capable dman. Panthers do. Flames do. There are quite a few.
EDIT: Colorado could us him as well, and they need ANY defenseman. |

We are but not by much I'm sure there is a way to get under....Dump Gervais and leave Laughton in Phantoms or juniors til we can use the LTIR. |

-$1,053,522 That's how much we are over right now. If they could dump Mezzy, and sign Gagne, we would be set. |

here I tried my best to make it work for you:
CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER
My Custom Lineup
FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.750m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.250m)
Brayden Schenn ($3.110m) / Vincent Lecavalier ($4.500m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m)
Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Matt Read ($0.900m)
Jay Rosehill ($0.675m) / Adam Hall ($0.600m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.750m)
DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($6.000m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Mark Streit ($5.250m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Andrej Meszaros ($4.000m) / Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m)
Chris Pronger ($4.941m) / Erik Gustafsson ($0.851m)
Marc-Andre Bourdon ($0.613m) /
GOALTENDERS
Ray Emery ($1.650m)
Steve Mason ($1.500m)
OTHER
Buyout: Oskars Bartulis ($0.100m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,072,356; BONUSES: $2,800,000
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $27,644
And we only have 12 forwards. Unless we LTIR Pronger from day 1 and hurt our cap next offseason, it's not possible. Easier just to trade Mezaros when Gustafsson is equal or near equal to him. |

I believe at this point that's the plan, but dump Mezzy is not what they want. They want to trade him for value. |

Not competely against trading Mezzy but trading him for nothing is stupid, when he is healthy he is a good player. |

his value is not very high right now. I would be happy with a prospect for the AHL. Anything. Future considerations. We need the space. Not the value. |

Grossman fetched a 2rd and 3rd pick.....When healthy Mez is at least as good if not better and he is much more mobile. I would be happy if we got a 3rd line winger back or he was included in a larger deal. |

Have to count Wellwood since he's hurt. If we do sign Gagne and I think we do, one of the 4th line players will be added in a deal? |

Eh I could see Talbot being part of something but he is the only one that has any real value in regards to bottom forwards. |

They're different kinds of defenseman. Grossmann I believe is the better DEFENSEman, but Mez has more offensive upside. And we couldn't get that for Mez. |

I say wait a couple weeks and call Nashville. Offer Couturier, Coburn, Cousins and 2 1rst for Weber. Trade Mezzy for a prospect. Resign Gagne.

It's just illogical to fight to keep Mez on roster. It's causing too many cap problems and the smarter idea is just to dump him so we don't face the cap repercussions that putting Pronger on LTIR from day 1 would cause us. |

McGinn, Talbot and or they could do a bigger move with B Schenn, Read, or Couturier. I don't like the idea of any of them being a top 6 forward YET, anyways. They need another top 6 forward in my opinion. It be great to get one through a dump of a defenseman and one of those guys (preferably Read and Coburn). |
