Not sure, I remember when we were all talking about it in yesterday's comment board MJL pointed out that LTIR Pronger would have cap repercussions. - JAKEw1234
I have seen him say that too but I have never seen that affect the Flyers. Pronger has been on LTIR for pretty much two seasons now and not once have I heard of significant penalties. Boston has been LTIR'n Savard too and same havent heard much penalties. |

It's probably a rule of the new CBA, MJL knows it front to back. |

Why would we do that? - JAKEw1234
A top six forward and a right handed good D man. Read is gone after this season because they have their top 4 wingers signed long term plus they signed Lecalvier for the next 5 years. Coburn is gone, so is Meszaros. Couturier or B Schenn could move too because of the overload at center and Scott Laughton pretty much has a spot on this year's team as well. Holmgren still has a lot to do. |

No that's just an outrageous over payment. Replace Bieksa with Edler and I'm still not sure the value is even. |

Ya I just remember before he said that I viewed Pronger's LTIR as a get out of jail free card that would essentially be our cap salvation on day 1 of the season. Now I think we need to put it off as long as possible. |

I like Bieksa better than Edler. He'd fit in Lavvy's system perfectly. So would Burrows. I'd rather see Burrows on the top two lines over B Schenn, Couturier or Matt Read. |

You'd rather have a 32 year old who's only scored more than 50 points 3 times and who's numbers are inflated do to playing with the Sedin's over a 21 year old who was on pace for a 50 point season and an all situations 26 year old also on pace for a 50 pointer? You're overrating Burrows, and Bieksa for that matter. Just because you like Bieksa more than Edler doesn't instantly make Bieksa the better dman. In actual fact, Edler is the better. I don't think Bieksa would even be that sizeable of an upgrade over Coburn. I'm sorry, but your trade is ridiculous to even consider. It's so one-sided for vancouver that it's ridiculous. |

Where it would hurt us is any bonuses earned by B Schenn and Couturier in their contracts would apply to next years cap since we will be over the cap ceiling in salary paid this year and the bonuses are paid after the season. It may not be a huge amount depending on which bonuses they hit but they will need all the possible cap room they can get for future years. |

in 2 years schenn or couts might be ready to be legit #2 centers. thats my only point - Crimsoninja
then vl can be one of their wingers |

Oh ok well B Schenn gets 2.35 mil in bonuses and Coots gets .45 mil. So if we LTIR Pronger on day 1 we'll have 2.8 mil less in cap next offseason. |

I'm saying that there is an overload at defense and center. That trade might not be fair that I proposed but there is need for an upgrade to the number 6 forward on the team. Burrows would be a great fit. |

But we don't need that. We have one of the deepest top 9s in the whole league. We were 9th in the league in goals for per game, and we just added lecavalier, and if he has a good year he could probably chip in 30 goals or more. You're pretending there's a problem where there really is none. Im gonna guess thats because you're personally a big fan of burrows and/or bieksa. And thats fine if you are. Im just saying our gaping need right now is not a #6 forward, its a number 1 stud dman to replace kimmo and more when he retires in a year. Our 2nd biggest need would probably be to clear cap space. I personally think we can fulfill need 2 by fulfilling need 1, as with a stud 1 guy we could spend less on our bottom 4 dmen and save alot of money. But bieksa isnt that dman. Hamhuis or Edler might be, but someone like Weber or Pietrangelo are the kind we really need. And the package you just stated for Bieksa and Burrows starts the conversation for a guy like that. Add a 1st rounder or 2 onto a Coots Coburn Read package and you've got something. |

I dunno 2nd line is a scoring line so it doesn't have to be especially defensive to be effective at it's purpose. - JAKEw1234
Every line on your team needs to be effective defensively, if you expect to be a top team.

It's affecting the Flyers this year. They are carrying a Cap penalty on this year's Cap from last year. Due to bonus overages from using LTIR. You state that the penalties are exaggerated. But it's clear you aren't aware of the penalties. Or how they could happen.

The Flyers don't need another top 6 forward. And why is Coburn gone? There's very little left for Holmgren to do for this year.
