Joe, its clear that you are very frustrated with the Flyers and the recent history and lack of "success" (if that's how you look at it).
Just to end the bickering, lets all agree to disagree. It serves you no benefit in life to both constantly shed your disapproval or try to convince others to think the way you do. You are clearly starting to upset other members on the board with the constant negativity and its understandable. You have made your points of dissatisfaction and everybody is well aware of how you feel. If anyone isn't, then so what.
Move on, point is made, let everyone else try to be happy and optimistic without you shooting their hopes down at every turn. We get it. |

I'm not a fan of the ridiculous offer sheets, as you have to think it will start to alienate Homer. Also, we're all assuming that AP would agree to it, when he very well might not want to. That said, if it keeps him away from any other teams, I'm all for it. - jmatchett383
The other side of this is that they Flyers would need to move assets to have the cap room available, and if we do not get AP, we've now moved assets for nothing. You gain the cap space, but at that point you probably can't replace what was lost. It's a fine line and why I'm still in pipe dream stage. |

Good points. However, if he wanted to stay badly enough a deal would have been made. Their cap is dwindling. They won't have enough room for Stewart and AP. I feel J-Bo is on the move here. Mezz and Coburn out the door |

See we're still trying to keep up with the joneses and getting burned. Now maybe Parise and sutter were always going to land in Minnesota albeit slightly overpaid but there's two types of players the flyers just bumped themselves out of the running for with these recent contracts should such players become available. Lets be honest the flyers got good again in the short term, not the long term again. - JoeRussomanno
I believe they have gotten better in the short term without giving up players who will be here in the long term. Had they TRADED to acquire them, that's a different story. The young core of the team has remained in tact, and it has been supplemented by more veteran players. Even with the deals it place, it will not be impossible to keep this team in tact with salary being shed and the cap increasing next year. I don't really see what your issue is.
Also, I agree, I will not post anything further on the matter.
LET'S GO FLYERS! |

The concerns put forth aren't moronic...the sheer negativity is. poopting on every single move, seemingly ignoring the rationale behind it as well as the need it fills is WIP level dumb. - Jsaquella
If it makes you guys feel better to lump me into that septic tank fine...especially when some of you know I follow the team religiously ... But one thing you can give those alpha hotels credit for predicting, is these deals lately tend to blow up in the team 's face a lot of late. Call me what you will but the abundance of (frank) ups are unacceptable and the same rationale appears to be constantly applied. Sorry you don't agree sorry I formed my own opinion I'm glad nobody can respect that. |

Does the O.S. cap space include the 10% offseason overage? If so, a Mez/Coburn move could give them what they need.
The downside is that they'd have to do a straight-up salary dump to be compliant for the season...but to get AP, I'm okay with it. |

They haven't traded them as of yet but I feel like these new deals are gonna push someone out of the picture and the player being moved wont offset the damage with a return. |

Not rumor here, just a proposal: Pulock and Grabner for Couturier, Read, and Coburn? Yea or nay? - jmatchett383
I'm usually one that says the packages proposed on HB are way too light on the Flyers side, i.e. giving up Coburn + Read + 1st for AP. But in this case I think it really is too much for Flyers.
Not a big Grabner fan. Pulock is a real high-ceiling dman - the Flyers will really regret not drafting him - but he is still an unknown so probability has to factor into it. Take Read out, put in Strome instead of Grabner, and maybe. I really want a true winger, but Isles don't have many I like/
But I like the way you are thinking. The Flyers need one more skilled winger and young talented d-man. |

I'm not trying to shoot hopes down. I thought it was a discussion board and opinions are allowed to be formed of one's own mind. I'm not upset about people disagreeing with me one bit but I don't appreciate being called names as if I'm pulling the recent blunders of this organization out of thin air. |

Pretty sure it does allow for it, but we need to count Pronger's cap hit since he can't be dumped to LTIR until season start. I'm hoping they are at least exploring it without gutting the core too badly. |

It is noted, but generally not agreed with. Accept that, stop trying to convince people you'll never meet otherwise.
Joe, its not about your opinions as it is your general negative outlook and trying to squash everything the Flyers do.
Nobody wants to be around those with dooms day attitudes, and that is now happening with you. People don't want your negativity around here. You have made it clear that you're unhappy. We've heard you LOUD and CLEAR. End it. |

Yeah, it does.
Only problem is, they currently only have about ~$2.8M in offseason cap space... dumping Meszaros (even if you could do it w/o taking any salary back, which is unlikely) still wouldn't give you enough to make an honest run at AP. They'd have to dump at least a couple of players first. |

Fair points, but I'd also say that sometimes being paired with the right defense partner, one with whom you develop chemistry and with a skill set that complements your own, can actually make a big difference in the play of even a small, slow 35 year-old dman. - TheGreat28
Yeah, who he's paired with and managing his matchups carefully will go a long way toward mitigating some of his shortcomings... at this stage of his career though, he is what he is, and the Flyers will have to work with that. |

Gotcha. So basically, an offer sheet submission is about as much of a pipedream as a trade. Still, with the Flyers past history with Weber, it can be something to hang over StL's heads to facilitate a trade. |

Yeah, in light of adding Vinny and Streit, bringing in another big salary by whatever means is going to be pretty hard to pull off. |
