To ensure that they get real NHL players in a deal for him instead of 4 1st round picks that could all be in the 20s.
Not saying that's what they've done, or that they're trading him ever, etc... just saying that's also a possibility. - eayost
I just don;t see them paying $27mm in one year and then shipping Weber off. |

My fear is none will be available. Pietrangelo is only spinning in trade rumors because he still needs a contract. That won't be the case next year. It does, though, look like P.K Subban is an RFA next year. I'd much rather have Pietrangelo though. - JAKEw1234
I think out of the two, P.K. has the better chance of being available. And those odds, I would consider slim. The only reason I believe he may be available some time in the future, if the rumors are true about his issues with teammates. |

I am thrilled MAB is symptom free and back on the ice. Regardless of what he does the rest of his career, I appreciate his work to get back to at least playing. Hopefully, his career will take the Bergeron route get derailed by a concussion for a pretty long time, and be able to resume his career at the NHL level.
I do like our depth with guys being ready, but untested at the NHL level. Besides Gus, guys like MAB, Alt, and Lauridson may just need an opportunity and off their career goes. I would not be shocked if MAB is healthy to make the top 6. Lava played him close to 18 minutes/night and he was in the top 6 against the Pens over the veteran Kubina in Game 1 in the playoffs against the Pens. I look forward to seeing his development in training camp and the preseason. - ravishingone
That is encouraging regarding MAB. He plays a pretty physical style, I hope he can remain healthy, but I believe the odds aren't in his favor. |

Of course. My comparison was apples and oranges. Not to mention the Flyers and Nashville are in different stratospheres when it comes to financial flexibility as well. - PLindbergh31
True, but if Bryz had even approached his Phoenix levels for more than a few weeks at a time, he'd likely still be a Flyer |

That's the other thing....why would Nashville pay him $27mm over the space of a year and then trade him? - Jsaquella
Now that Bobby Ryan has been traded, the fanbase is recycling back to Weber trades. |

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see Subban, Weber, or Pietrangelo going anywhere. Teams with young #1 defensemen tend to keep them.
If Subban puts up points at the same rate he did this year, he will demand an 8 year, $60 million deal and Bergevin will feel even more stupid for not signing him to a long term contract this year. |

There you go
It's not that I wouldn't want Weber's ability, but I'd rather go after a guy whose contract can be fit under the current CBA and avoid taking on what is basically a modified over 35 contract than has 13 years left. |

Yup. I see people who say Bryzgalov's behavior caused the Flyers to buy him out, and others say the media ran him out of town. All completely false imo. He simply didn't play well enough to justify the money he was being paid. The Flyers made the absolute correct decision in moving on from him.
Also proves that Bryzgalov was a complete Snider transaction. If it wasn't Holmgren would be gone. GM's do not get to make those kinds of mistakes. |

Rosehill will likely be kept as the 13th forward, rather have Straka in the AHL than on the 4th line in Philly. |

and Homer wouldn't have made that mistake of Snider didn't pressure him into it, I think. I think he would've made a move much like he did this year, and he probably would've signed a complimentary guy to be in tandem with Bob. |

That's my belief as well. The other stuff didn't help, but the driving factor was that he was an overall average(at best) goalie with an elite level commitment from the team.
Agreed wholeheartedly that the fact that Holmgren is still employed shows that Snider's fingerprints are all over the Bryz deal

It's so good I don't think our guys should try and block it if he gets a full windup. I'd rather concede a goal, than have a player with a broken leg. |

I dunno if he plays at a higher level than Rosehill and brings a defensive game then I don't see why not. |

I give Holmgren zero blame for Bryzgalov. He's not responsible. Bryzgalov was all Snider.
Bobrovsky is a complete Organizational failure. Laviolette, Holmgren, and Snider all are culpable. |

Rosehill is likely the 13th forward on this team.
I would think one of: Raffl, McGinn or if Gagne is signed will be the final forward, barring injuries. |

Because he's a kid that needs ice time to develop. If he's th 13th forward here, he's seeing spotty ice time at best, easy way to stagnate the kid's development. Let him see 12-15 minutes a night as a Phantoms and learn to be a pro. |
