The upgrade will come when Strome and Nelson and whoever else are ready. I don't see this franchise under Wang ever adding a huge "name" player.
Still wish we could have gotten some REAL help for Tavares. - Mancalledsting
That would involve trading real assets....there really hasn't been anyone worth signing over the last couple of years, even if we were inclined to.... |

Hey Everyone,
First post here but I have been an Islanders fan since 1978 and have watched the majority of games over the past three years thanks to the NHL Center Ice package. (TSN and CBC just don't show many Islanders games for some reason
Anyway, my take on Poulin is he will be okay as the backup next season. When the boys bought into playing a team defense the season started to turn around and so did the goals against. The key is to limit rebounds and clear the junk around the front of the net which again, they did pretty well in the second half. It will be key for him to win some games early in the season so the coaching staff gains confidence in him and he gains confidence in himself.
We could use another experienced solid defenseman which teams don't let go of very often. That is why the Hamonic signing makes so much sense. He would make the roster of any NHL team and IMO would be a top four on any team
Don't see the Isles taking a step back this year if Bailey and Okposo can maintaine the level of play they had over the last 20 games. But as we know Okposo is a slow starter and Bailey has to prove that his improved play wasn't just a blip on the radar.
Anyway that's all I got which is most likely more than enough. |

Nice when they realize they may need a year in the A. He will really realize it if he makes it ot the big camp. |

Did Dee say she didn't expect Clutterbuck to sign a 4 year deal, and thought he was a bargaining chip?
Really!!!???

What team is east has deeper forwards ? Some have better top end talent but depth ? NYI have a 30 goal scorer on their bottom 6 |

Well, to put that into a bit of perspective, four of the players slated for the Isles' top six (Nielsen, KO, Bailey, Bouchard) have either never hit 20 goals in a season or have only done so once in their career...

Hey #MNWild fans, I heard Nino isnt coming to your camp? He refused to come to ours because he's a little crybaby. Thanks for Cal! #Isles - jimmc7722
According to wild beat writer, wild told niño and three other prospects not to come to camp |

Wouldn't Martin be happy about this? Another player that can hit. Give Martin an easier job.... - mighty13duck
When Martin is a UFA, he's gonna get paid whether its from the isles or someone else. He knows it. So does every one else. He just has to play the se game everyone else does. |

Seems like the trick with the younger players now, is to pay them long term deals, at a lower dollar amount, for their second deal. Ala Hammy. |

PS: According to Newsday's Art Staple, the Islanders are now above the cap floor with both Josh Bailey and Thomas Hickey still yet to be signed. (No creative accounting come September) - Dee "god i suck" Karl
Nice to hear that actual cap space is being used on the actual line up for once.. thats a move in the right direction.

I don't think Kabanov gets a fair shake in the media. Everytime I watch him he seems to be looking to make the pass instead of shoot. Don't see how that is highlight reel. - niteislander
Exactly, the kid has matured so much since jr's & his first camp here. In fact I think he has looked to pass before shooting way too often, the kid can figgen bury the puck, that shouldnt be taken away from him.

I agree.. which I guess if you were looking to say negative stuff you could say he was looking for a "highlight reel" type play. ... to me he just needs to shoot the puck more.. crash the net.. etc. |

Personally.. not enough to be an expert. But I do think people are looking to trash him. |
