So he's a poor man's Guy Carbonneau (minus the captaincy) with more Cups and fewer goals? - jmatchett383
Carbonneau scored 600 some points in the NHL. Brind'Amour scored over a 1000 pts, and 450 goals in the NHL |

Holmgren said that he felt there were a few teams interested in him as a 4th round pick and being they didn't have a 4th rounder, they used their 3rd. Only time will tell. - nastyflyergirl
That's why I figured they would pick him there |

That 2nd line would have great chemistry, I think. Jake has kind of always played well with BSchenn, Simmonds and Schenn already play on a line, and Simmonds and Vor a Czech room together I think would have awesome chemistry. - JAKEw1234
i actually always loved simmonds and couturier together
would putting simmonds on the third line with couts and gagne be too risky defensively for a third line?
then read could be on the second line with schenn and lecav |

Simmonds-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lecavlier-Read
Hartnell-Couturier-Talbot
That's how I'd set up the top 9 to start. Each lines got a little bit of everything.
edit: (assuming we don't sign any other forwards) |

I would not be surprised to see Samuel Morin on the Flyers blue line this season.
I would, however, be floored to see him on the blue line in our 11th game this season. - dilbert719
I personally would be crazy surprised to see him in the NHL this season |

If it were me, I'd go with:
Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Vinny - Simmonds
But, to throw a curve ball (for matchup purposes, for example) you could always go:
Harts - G - Vinny
Simmonds - Schenn - Scoreacek - johndewar
I like your lines but I would like to throw out some lines of my own |

Well that sounded like a perfect time to trade your 3rd for a lower 3rd and a 4th you didnt have IMO then.... |

There's have to be 4 preseason injuries to Timonen, Schenn, Gustafsson, Grossmann, Gervais, Lauridsen, Manning, MAB, Coburn (if not traded), and Meszaros (if not traded) for him to make the NHL club this year. |

You're going to feel silly when Morin tears it up in camp and starts the season on the blue line. - mayorofangrytown
They would need to attach weights to his skates to keep his lanky body from sailing away on the ice. |

Takes two to tango, maybe nobody wanted to make that deal. Not that I'm a big fan of that pick. |

Will BSchenn even be a two-way forward? I saw him more as just being a scorer with grit. |

I think I could live with that. - JAKEw1234
Ideally I'd like someone with a little more size + skill on Couturiers RW other than Talbot so that Talbot can help anchor the 4th line, but Talbot has proven many times he can play well almost anywhere in the line-up. So I wouldn't mind it. I also wouldnt mind rearranging everything a little bit so that the full roster looks like this.
McGinn-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Lecavlier-Read
Schenn-Couturier-Simmonds
Talbot-Laughton/Hall-Hall/Rinaldo
-Rosehill/Newbury
With our current logjam at forward, barring unforseen trades I think Laughton should start in the AHL strictly due to the numbers. He can be brought back up later if necessary. |

Carbonneau had 1318GP 260G 403A 663P
Brind'Amour had 1,484GP 452G 732A 1,184P - JAKEw1234
Carbonneau also won 3 Cups with 2 different teams (1 as a captain) and won 3 Selke Trophies. Considered one of the best defensive forwards in history. But since offensive stats are all that matter, sure Brindy is better.
I know that if I was asked to have one on my team, I'd take Carbonneau. |

I think he means they'll try him out for 10 games before his rookie contract kicks in and then send him back to the QMJHL. |

Laughton is not eligible to play in the AHL. It's either the FLyers or back to Juniors. And if you have McGinn on your first line. You're in trouble. No knock on the kid. But put him in a position to succeed. Not a spot that he's not capable of playing in. |
