$1m!! OMG Homer you idiot! - PhillySportsGuy
sarcasm much?
He had a great showing in the Worlds and I thought he could get more if he wanted. The 1 yr deal is good for him if he can stay healthy and play anywhere near what he did at the Worlds or end of last year. If he does, he will get paid pretty well next year. Good deal for both sides. |

40 point season would be a good one for him. Dude hasn't shown much to think he can score 60. - Flyersgod
I think we just need to see measurable improvement with Schenn. It's his 3rd year in the league and he will get top 6 minutes and PP time. The next 1-3 years will determine the type of player he will be. |

it's good for both sides. Sets him up for a season to prove his worth. He will get the opportunity this year. Its all up to him and his health. |

you get a lot better playing against better competition.
In 8th grade I played in a basketball league. My friends decided to all play with grades 6th-8th (Meaning they would be the oldest). I decided to join the 9th-12th grade league. By the end of the year I had significantly improved compared to my friends. - PhillySportsGuy
I get that, but that line of reasoning only works when you're clearly dominant at a certain level. It's not like Laughton was putting up 2 PPG and shutting down the opposition. He was little more than a PPG player. Sure, I think he could help the Flyers now in a 4th line role, but he could take a bigger role with junior club and learn more/different things.
Why didn't Laughton make Canada's U20 WJC team last year?

He would have if it wasn't for 1) his lockout and 2) apparently, they didn't like the fact he'd been suspended. |

Laughton wasn't even Oshawa's top center last year. he played behind Boone Jenner. He will not be hurt if he stays in the OHL one more year. He played well, didn't dominate.
Not saying he can't make the jump to the NHL, but he won't be set back by another year in juniors. - Jsaquella
While his preseason will determine if the Flyers need to send him down or keep him I think the organizations brass are thinking along these same lines. The Hall and potential Gags signing leave no room for him. |

Like I've said before. Laughton will let us know in Pre-season and the 9 game tryout if he's ready. It will probably be fairly obvious. |

A 4th line center making $600k for one season should not be the determining factor in whether or not last year's 1st round picks makes the team or not. If he comes into camp and deserves a spot, I'm sorry but the great Adam Hall may have to be the 13th forward. |

because he went head-hunting and was suspended. He's also very good defensively which will help with the transition.
He did well enough for most people to rank him higher at this point than when he was drafted a year ago. |

It was before. He'd returned by then, but there was a rumor that Canada wasn't a big fan of it. Not sure why. |

Using that logic, Steve Mason is the odds on favorite to win the Vezina this year, with his .944 save % in 7 games last season.
If Laughton plays well, I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks. They have the option to send McGinn or Raffl to the AHL, where Laughton is either a Flyer or General |

Seems like the Hall signing and Laughton's development may push Talbot and his 1.75m salary out the door. |

I am of the thought that it is a possibility but not likely. I know Talbot had a down year compared to his first year but he brings great things to the team. I would like to see him played on the PK as much as possible, I think he strives when the coach shows confidence in him. |

I like Hall in the lineup to start the year. Unless Couturier has vastly improved his face-offs then I think Hall is a mainstay. |

Hall's signed for one year. Laughton can return to juniors. Raffl and McGinn can be sent to the AHL without waivers. |

Hall wins faceoffs and scores at Kent Manderville paces. I know offensive stats aren't everything, but you need to have SOME scoring ability. |
