A 4th line center making $600k for one season should not be the determining factor in whether or not last year's 1st round picks makes the team or not. If he comes into camp and deserves a spot, I'm sorry but the great Adam Hall may have to be the 13th forward.

Certainly agree, read above, Laughton will determine his own fate IMO. That said, it appears the Flyers bought themselves an option plan. You only buy yourself an option plan if you have doubts. Which they should, kid is young and unproven yet.

It was before. He'd returned by then, but there was a rumor that Canada wasn't a big fan of it. Not sure why.
- jmatchett383

Thanks!

That seems silly.

Regardless, it underscores my point that the kid does have stuff he can do in juniors.

If he can help the Flyers, then great. Keep him up, whatever. But if he doesn't stand out, it won't kill him to go back to juniors. Probably even helps the franchise, long term.

Seems like the Hall signing and Laughton's development may push Talbot and his 1.75m salary out the door.
- MrBigglesworth

I hope not. I can think of 29 teams that would like to have Talbot at that salary.

Hall wins faceoffs and scores at Kent Manderville paces. I know offensive stats aren't everything, but you need to have SOME scoring ability.
- jmatchett383

If your 4th line center is a scorer then you have some serious depth. This isn't the canadian national team

Awesome. A jerkoff and 2 Devils.

I wonder if Tie Domi will present Niedermayer.

I'm not asking him to light it up. I'm asking him to have SOME capability. He actually showed some offensive flair earlier in his career, but not, like I said, he reminds me of Kent Manderville.

Laughton wasn't even Oshawa's top center last year. he played behind Boone Jenner. He will not be hurt if he stays in the OHL one more year. He played well, didn't dominate.

Not saying he can't make the jump to the NHL, but he won't be set back by another year in juniors.

- Jsaquella

100% agree. If there is a trade and there is a spot open at 3rd line center, then sure I saw keep him. If he blows your socks off in camp and the 10 day trial, then make room to keep him. But there is no point to start his deal, and put an extra 1million plus on the cap just to have him play 4th line minutes. Send him back for 1 more year, it won't hurt him.

I know it is their career we are looking at. BUT, if I had to chose between those three players and Lindros all at their prime. It wold be a really hard decision. Lindros was one of the most dominate players we have ever seen. His career was tragically short and uneventful.

Lindros isn't in strictly because of longevity. Injuries robbed the guy of a lot of prime years. It sucks.

It does suck, but it's also BS. Cam Neeley and Pavel Bure are in, both had short careers and never won the Stanley Cup.

I'm ecstatic for Shero, long overdue, but Lindros should be in, as well.

It was only a matter of time. I wonder which of the voters from the past 2 decades is no longer voting.

Congrats to the Shero family for a well deserved distinction.

I simply don't understand the whole line of reasoning that Laughton has to be on the big club this year. He's a kid. There's always something he could be working on.

He might help, sure, but what has he accomplished at the junior level that he deserves the whole "he's too good for that league" line of reasoning?

- johndewar

He's done nothing that I've heard repeated. Don't follow those leagues though.

I dont want my 4th line thinking about scoring. I want them to grind out minutes, punish the other team physically, and create energy. I think your 3rd line should be more of a line to play some defense and score if you can. I would be happy with a 4th line of Rosehill-Hall-Rinaldo or Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo.

I agree. Lindros should absolutely be in imo. Give me the guy that dominated for a short period of time over the guy who compiled over years. That's the way I look at it for any sport.

Also, I don't believe in not winning a championship in a team sport should keep players out of the HOF.
