It does suck, but it's also BS. Cam Neeley and Pavel Bure are in, both had short careers and never won the Stanley Cup.

I'm ecstatic for Shero, long overdue, but Lindros should be in, as well.

lindros will get in. he will.

Eric Lindros was once the best player in the world. Brandon Shanahan was once the best player on own team (Hartford 96-97). "Not getting hurt" preferable to excellence. ...reach for the stars, dreamers.

Ewww.... why? Thought he was on a EL contract?

Bonus structure. His salary is $925K, $92K in signing bonus, $212K in performance bonuses. They can defer the Performance bonuses.

The bonuses affect LTIR in some way don't they?

He was my favorite player (not in a flyer uniform) growing up.

I liked watching Moginly when he played in Buffalo. Mid to late 80's is still my favorite era. Playing street hockey til you couldn't see that orange mylec ball that would get hard as a rock when it got cold out. Took many of them to various body parts. No fun.

Gustafsson is going to be the breakout player of the year for the Flyers.

Haven't played a video game since Mike Tyson's punch out on Nintendo. I want to say 1988.

I wonder what the deal with Gagne is. Wonder how much he wants to return. He'd be a great 3rd line player who could bounce around the top 2 lines if needed.

Manning hasn't had anything close to the sustained success that Gustafsson has had. Gustafsson's biggest issue has been staying healthy. Manning's biggest issue has been poor play.
- Jsaquella

Manning's trash I'd trade him while other teams still think he's a good prospect.

What 10-16 year old kid who loved hockey didn't have black and blue marks all over their bodies from these.

Ok now lets look at it from the Flyers side. Do we send the kid down, making him a year older before reaching ufa, spending less on our cap, when we are already very deep at the position he plays.

Also, will he help us out as much in his rookie year as a veteran that has played against the best in the world and you know what you are getting at half the cap hit.

- youarewrong

No doubt, but having him up might actually be a positive for the club in more than one facet. Having an extra year before reaching UFA is vastly over-blown. What if Hall, who has a history of being waived for a myriad of reasons, doesnt show the same stuff he did in his brief stint last season? Also, IF Laughton shows he is fit for the NHL, what is the benefit of sending him back? Besides cap relief, what good does it do for the team?

You are basically taking an NHL worthy asset that could be of great use, and sending it away.

Sort of.

If a team is spending above the upper limit, they can't "bank" cap space to absorb the bonuses earned by players. That's why they will be carrying $182K in dead space this season, for Schenn & Couturier's bonuses last season.

By using LTIR, they didn't have enough space to apply those bonuses to last year's cap. They will likely face the same issue this year, because LTIR isn't free against the cap, it simply allows the team to spend over the cap for a given time period.

Here's a good blog on the subject

That's the awesome thing about our team, anyone in the top 9 (And McGinn and Akeson) could sufficiently play anywhere else in the top 9.

I literally didn't stop playing til I beat Tyson. Took a few months. In the recesses of my mind I probably have the code you could enter to go straight to Tyson.

Yeah, IF.

I'm skeptical of our defensive prospects etc. Manning looked good for a while, has he progressed at all?

Manning is a career ahler. Gus has made the jump
