From what I understand about him Raffl has a good two-way game. - JAKEw1234
From what I've heard, it's the opposite. But I could be wrong.

The difference in the PP players time is because the second unit was horrible. With a better 2nd unit you will likely see a more even split of time. What would rather sending out Streit and Timonen on the same unit, then the second unit comes out with what? Grossmann and Schenn? Sure in game 7 you pull out all the stops in the last minute, but during a normal game, you split them up to have even units. - youarewrong
That's part of it, but not the real reason. Most teams favor the #1 unit. Playing the 2nd unit more, means that you take PP time away from Giroux. That would be a big mistake. The Flyers need to maximize Streit's PP time to take advantage of his strengths as a player. Gustafsson can QB the 2nd PP, and there are forwards such as Read that can also play the point.

True or False. Steve Downie was a player without first line talent playing on the first line? - youarewrong
Irrelevant. You could play Rosehill on the first line if you wanted to. Doesn't mean he belongs there. What is relevant is putting players in the right spots to best utilize their talents. Playing McGinn on the first line is not doing that.

So where are you putting Laughton, since you said he will be absolutely making the team? If Hall is your 4th line center, which I agree with, and Couturier is your 3rd line center.... - youarewrong
On the Wing on the 4th line.

From what the Flyers execs have said, his biggest issue is his footwork. Dave Brown feels he'll need a season in the AHL to adjust, while Chris Pryor feels Raffl is NHL ready now. Both seem to see him as a third liner, noting his work ethic and compete levels are very good. |

Does Laughton play wing at all? Hall can play wing. |

Not saying it would be an even split, but I would like to see the second unit have more success and, in turn, get more time. It would be nice to send out the second unit if our first line just had a long shift and feel like we had a chance to score. |

I would want Laughton at center, but would want Hall to take defensive zone face-offs. |

Then you could do some mixing and matching. But Mark Streit should be up there leading the team in PP icetime per game along with Giroux, Voracek, and Timonen. If he's not, then they're not fully taking advantage of the skills that he brings to the ice.

I don't see why Laughton couldn't. I think Hall's faceoff ability is going to be an important addition to this team. It's going to help make other players better.

Straka is the one with offensive ability but needs to learn defense. He was never forced to play defense overseas because he scored at such a high rate. |

Timo/Streit-Vinny
Schenn-Couts-Read
Timo/Streit-Jake
I like Jake QBing the 2nd unit. |
