I think MLB has. Also, I think the Golden Seals folded. - jmatchett383
The Seals relocated to Cleveland in '76 and became the Barons.

quebec - isaiah520
Quebec would make sense. But this is the NHL. They don't do things that make sense.
It will be Las Vegas and Somewhere in South Dakota. |

Here in Florida we have hockey. Although I can attest to the "softness" of the ice. Really weird experience playing on Florida Ice. Almost like a slushie. |

Yea.. its terrible. When it gets to about 75 degrees outside you can feel a change in the ice. |

Next expansion will include a second team in Toronto. It will involve a franchise fee in the range of $1b. dollars with the Leafs getting about $200m of that total as part of a territorial license agreement. |

I think PHX was most likely to be relocated and now they're solidified where they are for the next 5 years. Methinks there'd be an expansion if we added teams. Seattle and _______? - JAKEw1234
Somewhere ridiculous, like Houston.

I'd rather see a team back in Quebec than a second team in Toronto, but I get why they'd put another team there. It'd make money (at least while the Canadian dollar is strong). |

I don't think that is happening for a long time. The last thing this sport needs is more expansion. IMO we could lose a team or two. |

You mean Markham? I'd rather have a team that isn't so close to a current team. I know NJD, NYR, and NYI are all really close, but isn't Markham kinda like one of your suburbs? Or ya know, a sort of outstretch of Toronto? |

Nah we could definitely have 2 more teams. At least then we could have the same number of teams in each conference. |

If you look at the east, the top 3 in each of Divisions C & D will make it. Then next best records in the east take spots 7-8. So it's possible to have 5 teams make it from Division C or D. - aightwebang17
The main issue I have with the new divisions and playoff formatting is the East has 16 teams, the West 14. Right off the bat it's not an even playing field. It's markedly harder to make the playoffs in the East.
Dumb. |

Think Portland Oregon could have a team? They have a CHL team and a bigger TV market than Pittsburgh. - JAKEw1234
I think Portland would do great. The Blazers have a great following and so do the Winterhawks |

I'd like that, bring some more hockey culture to NW US.
We'd have the Seattle Seals and the Portland ________? |

I think Portland and Seattle would be great. Add a nice little rivalry out there. It will also give Vancouver an opportunity to avoid taking a plane when they play Seattle.
I've met people from the NW and they really do like hockey. It seems like it would be a natural fit. |
