Regarding Gagne, I think there is a gentleman's agreement in place where the Flyers brass told Gagne to sit tight while they figure out how to clear some cap space. While I'm sure teams aren't exactly beating his door down, he is still a useful player that can help a good team. I believe he will be back. - PLindbergh31
I think it's still possible that the Flyers sign Gagne. But I don't feel that agreement is in place. I think the Flyers are trying to do some other things, and have a Gagne signing on hold. I don't think they've promised Gagne anything. |

That was the point.
Nobody even steps on the logo in the dressing room, yet this schmuck can plant himself on it? I'll bet that if the team was present, he would have needed a wheelchair to perform his concert later that night. - tangent_man
Plants himself on the logo to have somebody take a picture of him taking a picture, no less. Lame. |

I'll take Gagne. He's going to want less money and is more likely to be able to compete after an 80 game schedule.
Jagr couldn't hold up after a 48 game schedule. I like the guy now but wow was he on fumes in the playoffs for Boston this season. I thought they did okay picking him up because of the shortened season but he was done. He was full step slower at least. - mayorofangrytown
If I'm Jagr, I wait until the trade deadline before I sign. Just stay in shape, sign a contract at the TDL to the best team. Only play 30 or so games, and give yourself a chance to win. |

Not only that, but at this point, Jagr is only an effective player when he has the puck on his stick. Which is a small amont of time. Gagne can still play well away from the puck. Which is a greater need for this team. |

Putting Gagne on a line with Couts and Read would make for a hell of a two way line. |

If you could have Gagne at $1.5M/2 years or Jagr at $3M for one year, who would you take? Keep in mind how much your captain who just a signed an 8-year extension has been vouching to bring Jagr back. - jmatchett383
Was Giroux vouching to bring back Jagr this offseason or last summer's offseason? |

It would, but I'd personally not sign Gagne at this point. I'd play Talbot on the 3rd line and give Laughton a spot on the 4th line. |

Well there were reports that the sides spoke and agreed on the particulars of a contract. If that is indeed the case I would think he would be back.
If something else comes along, and the Flyers decide to go in another direction it wouldn't surprise me either. The thing I'm fairly certain is the roster as constituted on July 10, will be different when camp starts. |

The reports were that they discussed money. All that means is that either side has an idea in terms of salary. The Flyers are always looking for ways to improve the team. |

His comments on Anne Frank a few months ago were so ignorant. Couldn't believe he said that. Regardless of age and maturity, you would think he would be surrounded by people who wouldn't allow him to constantly embarrass himself, doesn't seem like that is the case. |

Apart from a few nice passes in the playoffs he wasn't moving the puck effectively in the zone. I don't think he used the point player from the corner more than a handful of times. |

We don't know this. A player like Gagne still has value. I'm sure Montreal would be more then happy to have him. I think Gagne not being signed anywhere is a decision based on his own doing because he's being lead to believe he has a place here. This is pure speculation of course. Why not sign else where though? |

I'm quite sure he wants to play for the Flyers. But I feel if the Flyers were definitely going to sign him, it would be done already. |

There's enough leadership on this team already in my opinion. Flyers need to work some new youth into the lineup. |

Maybe I missed it. It's not like I pay much attention to him. Didn't he just sign the guest book or something. If that was it, it seemed like a lot of outrage over not much to me. |

So who does it keep out of the lineup by signing Gags? McGinn? Im not sold on him anyway in a 4th line role . Rosehill?

I don't see how Jagr fits on this team. He's slow, plays very little defense and refuses to dump the puck in the offensive zone. Not scoring at all in the playoffs makes him completely unattractive to me. Plus we seem to be full in the top six and most importantly the right wing. |

Signed the guest book, and proclaimed if "Annie" was around today she would have Bieber fever. Just dumb to make a comment like that. |

I dont think your very familiar with how business deals work. Even outside Hockey, Homer and Gagne talk. Homer says "We would like to bring you back, but we can't make an offer until we move out some salary. Pending any unforseen issues, would you accept a deal for X money, for Y years?" Gagne and agent says Yes that will be fine, we will wait, but we will be hearing other offers.
So is it a binding agreement, no. But I'm sure numbers and terms have been agreed upon, pending something happening.
Now between now and the time the deal is signed, anything could change. Gagne could get an offer he cant refuse if Homer wont match, which he wouldnt. Or Homer might not be able to make the space, or a deal might come down the line that would make Gagne unnecessary. But this is the nature of business deals. Dont take offense on this, but you tend to see things in black and white, right and wrong. Either a deal is in place, or it isnt. But there is gray areas, you have to be able to read between the lines. |
