DEVILS! - mighty13duck
It's going to be hilarious to see the Devils forfeit the first overall pick, next draft. They should have given up that pick, a year ago, when they picked 29th, in a weak draft. Everyone say's Lou is a genius.......what about that? |

True and giving up the 9th overall on this years draft for a goalie that will likely walk in two years was dumb. They have goaltending for the next year. Work a trade nest year. |

being competitive pretty much every single year for 2+ decades with multiple cups pretty much shows why he is HOF
mightyduck what makes you think that schneider is likely gonna walk in 2 years? |

Offensively, they're not even in the same league. Their defense is suspect and you may be over-rating Shneider. He sh!t the bed in Vancouver and they had a better team then the Devils. Losing Clarkson doesn't help either.

while the isles have the better offense, devils have always be strong defensively and schneider is good and could be very good, brodeur+schneider is much better than nabokov and poulin, and the isles D is suspect
clowe replaces clarkson who has better career averages and can be better than clarkson if he gets back on track, and we added ryder who should be good for 25goals maybe more
the isles made the playoffs for the 1st time in a shortened season, and were fading at the end of the season, can they keep it up? thats a very big question |

I don't see the Flyers as that good. So they got Vinny. He won't make that huge of a difference. You guys got JT and Strome up the middle. You're also a tougher team, this time around and that makes a big difference.

They are much younger and are on the upswing. Pushing the Pens, in their series, was a valuable lesson on what it takes to win. Are you saying that if you had the chance to trade the Devils roster for the Islanders roster, you wouldn't do it? |

i wouldnt trade them, devils have the experience and players that know what it takes to make the playoffs almost every year, for the future sure but not now
it looked like any team could beat the pens when fleury is in goal in the playoffs, and one series doesnt mean much unless you want to compare the devils going through the flyers and rangers (both who were considered much better than the devils by many) the previous year
till the isles can show that they can play and compete in a 82 game season i have my doubts |

That's fair. But at the same time to discredit what the Isles did last year is unfair as well. Its not just you but I have seen Ranger and Flyer fans say what the Isles did was a fluke. The fact is, it wasn't. This team is growing older and is very close to being one of the top teams in the east. I truly feel that goaltending is the only thing holding us back, and unfortunately Garth did not fix the situation this year. (atleast not yet) Still I believe this team will be in the playoffs next year once again. |
