Olli's contract 2 way in 1st yr, 1 way 2nd year
so i believe we can send him down this yr w/o him going through waivers, next yr we cant.
not 100% sure on that though. - FLYERSROCK!
I guess that means Olli's in our lineup next year. |

Again, waivers has nothing to do with one way or two way contract. It has to do with how a player is paid. A 2 way contract has one salary for the player in the Minor Leagues, and a salary if the player is in the NHL. A one way deal, the player get's paid the same regardless of where he plays. Waivers is based on when the player signed his first contract, and games played.
This is basically the same deal that they sign Bourdon to. I'm not crazy about it, because it means that Lauridsen has to be carried on the off season Cap next off season. |

Not necessarily. But there's a very good chance based on this contract, and his future waiver status. |

I've got to admit I dont see Ryan staying in OTT long term. Big mistake on their part to pay that price without a contract extension being agreed upon.
With almost every big market team involved in Ryan rumors the last two years he'd be crazy not to test the market going into the prime of his career. |

Actually, you can't call it a mistake. You cannot sign a player to a contract extension until he is in the last year of his contract. That won't be the case for Ryan until next July 1. Then Ryan will be eligible to sign an extension with Ottawa. |

Wow, didnt know that. That's a strange rule.
Still, the point remains I beilve there is a strong chance he tests the market in two years and gets absolutely ridiculous contract offers. I dont like the trade for OTT. |

Well obviously, Ottawa is going to have to pony up at some point, and see what happens. If Ryan leaves for Free Agency, then yea it's a bad move for them. Have to wait and see.

Essentially a player files for arbitration, and makes his case with things like his performance, his leadership abilities, his value to the team, etc., as to why he thinks he deserves to be paid X amount to a neutral party. Then the third party takes everything into account and sets the players salary to a set amount that the team has no control over, and they have to deal with it. |
