He was on an elite team for 2 years and I dont see any cups - Rally_Shots
In fairness, the only elite team was the second year after the lockout when they began the season 10-0.
Going into the Ottawa series, they were a distinct underdog, big time.
Nobody outside of Buffalo thought they had a prayer of beating Ottawa as Ottawa thumped them routinely that regular season.
Ray Emery and Chara being a turnstyle are the two main reasons they won that series.
Hell, there were a lot of people that thought they wouldn't even get past the Flyers in round 1.
Every time I watch highlights of those playoff series, it makes me realize how much I miss the style of hockey that was played league wide then. End to end rushes, speed all over the place, and almost zero obstruction. Oh for those days to be back again... |

Comparing Miller and Dom is like comparing Miller and Enroth, not in the same galaxy - sbroads24
Bear in mind I only began watching hockey when I moved to Buffalo in 1988, but Dom is the single best hockey player I have ever seen when he was at his peak.
The 1-0 game 6 victory against the Devils is still the single best display of goaltending I have ever seen. |

Would be nice to try and grab Blake Wheeler if the Jets decide not to keep him, he would look good on Vanek's left. - SABRES 89

I know your not in the area, so I wouldnt expect you to have heard this (unless someone brought it up), but Paul Hamilton (WGRs Sabres beat writer) said on air today that Vanek has his sources have told him Vanek has his mind made up and wants out. He also said Miller might be the one who could be convinced of staying. |

My biggest problem with these goalie stats especially Miller bashers are this:
The two seasons after the lockout more penalties were called teams were playing high paced end to end hockey. Odd man rush after odd man rush. The league changed to a more defensive "prelockout" style after two years. The Sabres kept trying to play that run and gun style while the other teams didnt. It took the Sabres (typical Ruff) another year to try to play defensive hockey again. So bash Millers numbers all you want but it's not like he had a defensive style (Tippett, Tortarella, Boucher) game and a ton of help from the team in front of him. He is the reason we haven't had a top 5 draft pick and he is the reason we squeezed into the playoffs 2 years ago. Ill end my rant and when he goes win elsewhere we can all stop with this argument that he isn't a winner and he is the cancer in the lockerroom.
Oh and btw the reason Briere didn't sign here wasn't because he wanted to play for a winner it was because the real cancer on the team is still here and ill give you a hint it's not Miller

This is what annoys me, Ray Emery put up better numbers than 95% of the goalies in the league because of what team he is on. No one would say he's better than Quick or Hank despite putting up better #s than them. Yet Miller plays on an awful team which is proved by our awful possession numbers and special teams, not To mention shots against, yet he is still supposed to put up exceptional numbers otherwise he is average, I base my opinion of him by watching him |

Homie, its hilarious youre saying the numbers dont lie, but wont concede to the fact that if Miller played behind Boston, he'd be putting up AT LEAST equivalent numbers or better.
I've posted the numbers 100 times over before. |

The Sabres still finished 4th in the east the first year out of hte lockout with 110 pts. They were the third best team in the east, I would still call that elite regardless if they ran into another elite team in Ottawa in the playoffs. |

Numbers never lie supposedly?
Millers 2 1-0 shutouts vs the far superior philly offense in the playoffs.. doesn't matter?
Or that in the last 13 games for miller in the playoffs that only 1 win included him giving up more than 1 goal...
Can't a brother get a little offense???

I really think that miller is an ultra competitor.... this past season just grinded him to his boiling point... he couldn't take losing amd not trusting the revolving door of dmen in front of him... he tried to over play every scenario and close every passing lane...
Risto and Big Z could have been a huge part of trying to get miller to stay... |

Everyone has to have a scapegoat when they don't go 82-0 and win the cup.... only one team at the end of the year is happy...
Usually for sabre fans.... its the guys with the bigger paychecks that get blamed for everything regardless of obvious other factors |
