Agreed. It's like trying to figure out how Greztky would play in today's game. Does he still lead the league in points? Maybe but he doesn't put up 215...hell he would be lucky to put up 115. Time have changed so much even since the last lockout

He doesn't have to..we put people around him that make other teams think twice before taking a run at him

When did the Sabres decide to be a team that is " tough to play against?" When Vanek is in front of the net he takes a beating, usually when you have a guy like Vanek you "rebuild" around him, the Sabres trade him.

Everyone has to have a scapegoat when they don't go 82-0 and win the cup.... only one team at the end of the year is happy...


Usually for sabre fans.... its the guys with the bigger paychecks that get blamed for everything regardless of obvious other factors

Today and yesterday on WGR, Schopp has said that this season falls on Myers shoulders, if he plays good, our team is much better and makes the playoffs. If that is true, why are we rebuilding instead of just replacing one guy? If its all on Myers why does Pommer need to be moved and why does Miller or Vanek need to be traded? If this team is really a contender if Myers plays well , a rebuild would be a bad idea. To pin this season completely on him is so far beyond dumb

Nxt summers ufa crop is borderline amazing... I think keeping miller is more imperative to getting top talent here than is vanek

Hell it takes a serious set to stand in front of the net and take the beatings like he does. But it also takes it's toll on the body. Give me Vanek 3 years ago and id let you talk me into him staying but a player like him after all the beatings he has taken I'd rather take my chances with a 33 year old goalie that other than the concussion from Lucic hasn't had injury issues or a funky groin (Dom)

That was the diplomatic way of telling everyone to eff off

no fight, just trying to figure out what makes miller so great

rask gets dogged for not getting them in the finals or the bruins are so great and miller could do much better


sabres got into the ECF's twice with Miller, once they won the presidents trophy and he did no better

rask has the better numbers
rask is on the cup
rask will be more accomplished then miller when it is all said and done

in many ways he already is more accomplished

so unless Miller wakes up and is ken dryden, hasek, roy, brodeur then the miller fans need to be a bit more realistic regarding him.

Unless they want this section to become leaf nation south

If they legit take him from the crease and put him in the slot... then I wouldn't mind a 4-5 year deal for him to stay...

But if the plan is for him to continue to take a beating... he will only miss more and more.

Bottom line --- don't build around Vanek, build around a legit star player. Unfortunately to keep Vanek you will have to pay him like a superstar

Maybe the reason Regier hasn't signed any UFA F's this summer is because he expects Flynn, Grigorenko, Armia, Girgensons and Larsson in Buffalo and that is part of the re-build plan. Once Flynn and Hodgson sign, we potentially have 15 forwards.
