Another trivia question to throw out there, this time about the series as a whole. Taking into account regional cover variations, which player has appeared on the most covers to date?
- dilbert719

It's gotta be Mark Streit, he tops the very small list of really good Swiss players, so he's gotta be on the cover like every year in Switzerland, if they even sell it there

Neal isn't new to the league. Neal has been around and has a history with dangerous hits. As far as hitting goes, James Neal reminds me Coby Armstrong early in his career. Total head hunter. Then you add Kunitz, Cooke. Crosby and Malkin get dirty when things aren't going their way. Then Pens implode when they are getting out muscled.

I'd give Laughton or McGinn a crack it.
- bradleyc4

You and me both. Iliked most of what they did this year but I'm kinda sick of these journeymen at the bottom of the roster and now we have three of them bopping around. One would have been plenty for me.

And there we go. Roman Hamrlik, the current active NHL games played leader.
- dilbert719

Roman Hamrlik! HA!

I wonder if he'll be in the league this year? I think maybe time's run out on that grizzled veteran.

BINGO! Mark Streit's been on the cover of three NHL editions in Switzerland (Jonas Hiller and Roman Josi have been on one each, there.) Aside from Streit, only Markus Naslund and Alexander Ovechkin have been on two covers. Everyone else has only been on one.

Since they've gone to posed shots, only one cover has featured more than one player. Who were the players on that cover?

That was probably some of his best defensive work.

Problem is, your cap floor team would have to be willing to pay out $5.5M in real salary while only having it count $4M against the floor. Not a likely scenario.

I think Colorado will be interested in Mezaros.

Again, that's easy to say -- I totally believed that, at one time.

The problem is, again, that if was that easy to do, the Flyers probably would've moved Mesaros by now -- while he isn't cleared yet, there's no real reason to believe he won't be, and if a team really wanted him they would've taken him.

I don't know -- you'd think that moving Meszaros should be something that could be done, but until it is, I do wonder exactly how he's getting off the roster.

- AllInForFlyers

two things:
1) Teams probably won't take him until he's cleared to play, just to be safe
2) There are still a few free agent options. Many teams will probably try there first, but once the good ones are gone, and the teams that missed out get a bit more desperate, they'll be more willing to take a chance with Mezaros.

Those are 2 things that will solve themselves with alittle bit of patience. I expect Mez to be traded in due time.

Oh, I know (I think). Was that Dany Heatley and Joe Sakic, for 2003, because of Heatley's being pulled for that fatal car crash?

I think Heatley was on the year before the crash. I still have a copy of that game for PS2 at home.

Not what I was going for there. Heatley was replaced with Sakic; I'm talking about a cover (a specific region's, rather than worldwide, if that helps) with multiple players on the one cover.

Wasn't that the year Sakic was on it and for some reason they changed it to someone else?

Let's just say that there are no shortage of teams trying to peddle off their own Meszaros's and a scant few teams for where these kinds of players could possibly end up. To say it's a buyer's market would be an understatement... Mez might as well have a NTC with the limited options that Homer is probably looking at.

A cap floor team would definitely be willing to take a low-risk high-reward chance on Mez, who only has 1 year left on his contract, even if they only give a 6th rounder. Read is a valuable trade asset, you wouldn't just package him so a team will be willing to take Mez. That's poor asset management.
- JAKEw1234

Isn't every team already over the floor or is the following Wiki incorrect?

Since the NHL salary cap was reintroduced following the ratification of the current CBA, it has risen every year since being instituted. The salary floor is fixed at US$16 million below the cap, with the exception of the 2013–2014 season, where the cap floor is $44 million.[16][3]

Like I said earlier, the Flyers are waiting to demand to go up. There are still a few guys out there teams are trying to sign. Once certain teams miss out, they will look the trade route for a fix. Flyers are waiting for health, but also the market to rise.

That's what I'm thinking -- I think finding a team to swallow that salary is going to be TOUGH.

There's only a few teams who can honestly even consider it, with Meszaros' injury history.

Again, I want to believe that it can be done. But I agree with where you are on that -- it's not as simple as it sounds.

I cant believe the Perron trade. Oilers offence is absolutely sick.
