Cool thanks for the info fellas....I noticed Wellwood hasn't signed his tender is it possible that he may wait til after opening night for cap relief? According to capgeek Flyers can get under cap without dealing anyone....would have to waive Rosehill and hope Bourdon and Gerv clear waivers. No expert so not sure if that would work ans that's with Wellwood signing after opening day.

Wellwood's contract stays on the books since he can't be waived, if that's your idea. But if you're saying would they waive/LTIR people and then sign him, it's possible.

That's why waiving him for that first game tales all of his bonuses out (he'd earn them opening night, then they'd be gone).

In the third year of Schenn's contract, he doesn't have to play the 25 minutes in all regular season games to earn a handsome $1.5 million dollar bonus, but to qualify he would have to have an All-Star season, finish among the league's point leaders and win a major award.

It says a lot about the ratings system, if there's a way to have a cage match and make it PG. Unless it's some sort of no holds barred sharing contest.

I don't believe the cap hit is counted until it's signed, as it's possible (not probable in his particular case) he could renegotiate a longer-term deal. But the contract slot counts.
