Cool thanks for the info fellas....I noticed Wellwood hasn't signed his tender is it possible that he may wait til after opening night for cap relief? According to capgeek Flyers can get under cap without dealing anyone....would have to waive Rosehill and hope Bourdon and Gerv clear waivers. No expert so not sure if that would work ans that's with Wellwood signing after opening day. - flyerfan28
Wellwood's contract stays on the books since he can't be waived, if that's your idea. But if you're saying would they waive/LTIR people and then sign him, it's possible. |

Yeesh, good point. Especially with Gilbert.
Maybe just use a regular buyout on Meszaros? There's another window coming up soon, right?
Or worse options:
1. Waive and demote Meszaros -- very little cap relief and alienate player
2. Trade Grossmann or Coburn -- open to Grossmann, but not Coburn
3. Meszaros (or someone else) as 7th d-man - bradleyc4
Out of those three I choose #3. Pay 4m for a 7th D man, demote B. Schenn to the AHL to start the season, LTIR Pronger and then bring Schenn back up. Im not concerned with cap issues due to Schenn's bonuses since I don't know what they are but think they are unattainable. . |

If that's the case, just Sbisa Meszaros (yes, "Sbisa" as a verb) and play him at wing for that first game. |

When MOAT came to my son's hockey game this past season, I felt protected from the angry mob of parents from the rival rink's team. Like he could grab the jawbone of an ass and mow them down, Samson style. - Flyskippy

I know one of them is he has to avg 25 minutes a night for the season.

No. But I'm sure he could recoup the money plus more signing a new deal in the KHL.
But I don't think these are realistic options, no. - bradleyc4
could they toll the contract, and he could prove himself in eur/khl and return triumphantly to the flyers the following year? |

That's why waiving him for that first game tales all of his bonuses out (he'd earn them opening night, then they'd be gone). |

FYI, if I stop posting it could be because of the Zimmerman trial. I work in Sanford. Very, very, very dangerous place without all this race/trial crap.
Pray/Hope for no riots plz. - Flyersgod
Saw that some trouble makers are being bussed in to provoke things. I'm praying that civility -- and not misguided vigilante action -- wins the day. |

Maybe they'll bring in those white robed/hooded men to keep things calm.
And the WBC somehow. |

If that possibility makes you feel better, Mrs. Meszaros, then yes. |

I have no interest in sending Schenn down at any point of the season. Sending him down for any reason gives the team a disadvantage. |

1. Ed Snider buys the Montreal Canadiens and assumes all managerial duties.
2. Flyers trade Mez to Montreal for Galchenyuk.
3. Montreal buys out Mez
4. Flyers sign Mez for $1.5M/year.
5. Montreal folds. |

I wish all the extremist groups that use violence would meet at a neutral site: like a bomb testing site. |

Thank Bob for Dreger!
In the third year of Schenn's contract, he doesn't have to play the 25 minutes in all regular season games to earn a handsome $1.5 million dollar bonus, but to qualify he would have to have an All-Star season, finish among the league's point leaders and win a major award. - Darren Dreger from 2011
If he attains those bonuses, I will be quite happy indeed to see the team pay them all out. |

Cage match, let them have their way with each other. The winner gets to keep the cage.
The keys to unlock it, however, are not included in the prize package. |

It says a lot about the ratings system, if there's a way to have a cage match and make it PG. Unless it's some sort of no holds barred sharing contest. |

I was actually wondering if he could wait to sign the tender until after season started, if that would provide relief. Or is it counted since its been tendered signed or not? |

I don't believe the cap hit is counted until it's signed, as it's possible (not probable in his particular case) he could renegotiate a longer-term deal. But the contract slot counts. |
