I think Gagne played pretty well last year. He's not the same as he was when he was 25 obviously, but he would be one of the more defensive minded forwards if the Flyers brought him back.
When you talk about sentimentality, the Flyers giving a contract to Wellwood who is a fringe NHL player at best made little sense. Hockey is a business, I understand it would have appeared cruel, but ties should have been cut with him. - PLindbergh31
We're an organization. I think our sentimentality is a reason a lot of players like the idea of playing here. It's good we didn't cut Wellwood, it would've certainly meant the end of his professional career, and could've easily sent his life into a downward spiral. Now we're giving him a chance. I like that move, and I personally support bringing Gagne back, he would fit perfectly on our 3rd line, and loyalty always needs to hold a place in this league. |

After looking up Voracek's last 82 games... I decided (since work is really slow right now) to look up a few other top line right wingers over their past 82 games. And, YES, Bobby Ryan is included.
Ilya Kovalchuk-
82 games- 31 goals- 43 assists- 74 points
Patrick Kane-
82 games- 35 goals- 46 assists- 81 points
Marian Gaborik-
82 games- 26 goals- 29 assists- 55 points
Bobby Ryan-
82 games- 23 goals- 32 assists- 55 points
Voracek-
82 games- 33 goals- 41 assists- 74 points |

Great as always Bill
Didn't Bergen have an abdominal injury during his time with the Flyers as well? I have a very vague memory of him having some kind of injury when he was first called up and then missing a few games and then coming back and having that magical run (scoring).
Do you have any thoughts on how some of the Flyer positional logjam will play out? I think the defense is pretty straight forward, but with Schenn moving to LW, that rejuggles the lines and moves people around. Also, is there any hope for Gagne to be resigned? He appeared to still have something to give...or is this another Flyers/Gagne get it signed the day camp starts situation. - wbon22
There is definitely still a good chance that Gagne gets re-signed. If not, there would have been some sort of statement by Bob Sauve by now that they have decided to move on and there are several other teams interested.

Yes. Time to start a Patrick Kane rumor.
His cousin's substitute teacher lived in Merchantville, NJ and loves the Flyers. He was thrilled that his goal won the Stanley Cup in his home country's "Cradle of Liberty" -- especially Ms. Abernathy-Poots, who booed him mercilessly from her seat in 107, sporting her Burt #2 jersey. Thus, he now has ties to the Delaware Valley so all trade talk must include HATRICK KEAN FIST. |

Tremendous!
I try to tell people that Jakub Voracek's been getting it done at an elite level for the better part of a season-plus, and I get that blank stare like, "I don't believe you."

Worrying about contract slots reminds me of the hours I've wasted on NHL13 trying to make trades with teams with 50 contracts... God I hate that game...
Online I love, Be a GM I think was a major flaw with the game. No reason it should take 4 days to simulate an entire season. On top of that the trading block and attempts to make a trade make no sense. - Flyersgod
I used to love the Franchise Mode. Now it takes too long to sim, and the trading and contract stuff does really slow stuff down, but there is work around. I miss the days when there were 2 hockey games... What was it EA and ESPN or something. I used the one with the best franchise mode that year. Now there is no compeition, so no reason to make better what people see as a 4th option these days with online, and bea player modes... |
