Hallucinating on the way to work today. Man who looked just like Gordie Howe rushing up 16th street in peach slacks, sockless loafers, and an oversized khaki belted trenchcoat. Looked frazzled. It looked so like Gordie I almost stopped him, but I know it couldn't be. No way he'd be left alone with his current mental issues. Still, doppelganger. |

While I see the logic in letting the young guys like McGinn have a roster spot instead of gagne, we really need to bring gagne back. He will come cheap. We need some vets to help teach these youngens how to play properly. Not to mention off ice things Having hartnell, vinny, gagne, talbot is nice veteran leadership for the young core of forwards. |

I believe this season is the season for Brayden Schenn. His dominant play at what I believe was his second stint in the World Juniors was nothing less of leadership, know how, hard work, skill and determination. That performance was true flashes of greatness. I have no doubt that it was translate to the NHL. - dingo8urbaby
He was a force during that series against the Pens in 2012 as well... and he's shown flashes at times during the regular season... even if he fails to break out next season, I'd hope they stay patient with him... it's definitely going to come together at some point, and when it does, he's going to be a hell of a player. |

him and neal can have a competition for more sneaky headshots/leaping off the feet to check incidents |

It's not like McGinn won't see time on the big club this year if he is sent down initially.

They could never fit that category into the header of hockey a stats sheet. Too long. |

Yep... Reminds me of kadri. Toronto fans were calling for his head because he couldn't break into the line up and once he did they love him now. Oh difference is schenn going tHrough growing pains at NHL level instead of ahl level. We may have a couple more years of that with core forwards being so young. Hell even g is still young and it can be seen in his game too. I'm willing to be patient if homer goes that route. It will definitely be one hell of a ride either way |

I don't believe in Jiri Latal. He's as real as elves, the Easter Bunny, and eskimos.
I'm not sold on Matt Walker ever really existing either. It may have just been a crash test dummy spinning on a motor while wearing a Flyers jersey for his glorious, what, 8 games as a Flyer. |

Schenn just has to figure out how to rationalize them as "trying to avoid the hit." |

i know right. thats actually a fairly insulting attempt at a justification on his part, and i have no problem admitting it. i wonder what completely idiotic and ass backwards phrase schenn could come up with to match that pearl of wisom |

1. Very little cap space - they need to get under $64.3M to maximize Pronger's LTIR exemption. They need to lose money, not add any more.
2. No contract slots - they're at 48 w/ 2 slides, and Manning and Wellwood are still unsigned. |

I think they're joining up with the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd and they are currently touring this Summer. |

I'm amazed that Wellwood didn't jump (well, not literally) at the notion that someone is offering him money this year. |

I would focus on what a team like Boston did to a top offensive team like Pittsburgh. And how they shut that offense down, and why. The Flyers don't need more offensive talent. They have all they need. They need to drastically improve their all around game, especially on the defensive side of the puck. Then the offense will take care of itself. - MJL
I think that's easy to say, but it overlooks the fact that Chicago just beat the Bruins by playing the type of hockey that, if I had to look around the league, plays like the Flyers would like to.
Pittsburgh has its own, distinct issues -- immaturity not being the least among them. I don't necessarily use them as a barometer of success, because everyone knows that getting them off their game is far easier to do than it should be. I don't think defense is unimportant -- clearly, it is -- but we don't have Zdeno Chara to play 30 minutes a night. That guy isn't coming through any discernible method of acquisition that won't crack this message board in half...
I'm not saying you have to do it forever. I'm saying that not making the playoffs this year is totally unacceptable, and a more clear path to the playoffs means that, at the end of the day, you are winning hockey games, and you do that with goals. |

Tremendous!
I try to tell people that Jakub Voracek's been getting it done at an elite level for the better part of a season-plus, and I get that blank stare like, "I don't believe you." - AllInForFlyers
after giroux hes the last player id want them to move... i think hes a stud and hope the league takes notice this year. |

People kind of forget that he was being penciled into the lineup last summer by most everybody here... I don't really mind them qualifying him if only to hang on to his rights.
I have a bigger problem with them giving Yann Danis (and to a lesser extent, Adam Hall) a contract slot that could mean them losing Simon Gagne and/or being forced into a decision with Laughton over slide purposes due to being up against the 50-limit yet again. |
