It works great for both teams the Islanders need a second line winger and a power play set up man for Tarvares, Also helps the Islanders be above the cap floor. The Oilers need true grit and Matt Martin is made of it, and he has a nasty edge to him that is much needed on the Oilers. He has fought a number of guys in the east with great success (Adam McQuaid, Zack Kassian when he was with Buffalo, Wayne Simmons, Tanner Glass, Brandon Prust, Braydon Coburn, Ryan White, Hal Gill, and he knocked Tom Kostopoulos' block off) Also he can play a regular shift on the third line without being a defensive burden. Last years stats for Martin 48GP 4G 11A -2 63 PIM

I think the point of the Isles adding Clutter on top of Maritn was to improve team toughness. Martin is a burgeoning poor man's power forward. We already got the toughness the isles were willing to give up in Joensuu. I agree they need secondary scoring but I don't think they give up Maritn that easily.
