Wish that I could.
What if they paid part of his salary for this year as part of the deal, thereby giving you more cap space? - kingcong39
what if we call it square this year, but you pay half next year??
for realz though, is that even allowed under cba rules? |

Hey Ritchie Rich, might be a bit premature to declare Edmonton the automatic winner of the Perron/Paajarvi trade, don't you think?
I think it's a good move for both teams, especially the immediate future of the Oilers, but long term I think St. Louis could eventually get the better end of this deal. No? |

yep.
at present I think we won as we got the best player in the deal. but long term it's certainly a gamble. kind of a win/win really. they needed the space and also didnt take a big hit to a contending team.
and prv was starting to come around.
imo, a neccassary move though. and putting health aside, im not sure we'll ever lose the deal in any egregiously lopsided manner.
perron isn't the exact type we were looking for, but I think we should be generally happy with the deal. |

I dont mind penner on the third line IF its on a 1 year deal. Maybe Eakins will whip him into shape.. I still feel that we need to address the D now tho |

his term and dollars would be extremely important.
think id throw him in the top 6 and put perron on our 3rd.
does penner even have the will and effort level to be an effective checker/scorer? |

Gordon fills a few needs and im glad we got him. but regardless of the freed up space, we did overpay by 500k at least. maybe closer to a mil - hugefemale dog77
Overpayment in free agency?? The hell you say.

We were looking for a "yes he is", and not a "well we hope he'll be".
I like MPS but I think even when his game fills out he'll be a fringe top 6 guy. |
