The fact you're welcoming back Dustin Penner, whos contract was one of the biggest mistakes in franchise history is ridiculous, that contract alone and surrending those draft picks set our rebuild back, and he did nothing to prove himself here to deserve that kinda dollar figure

30 goals?

And who cares, it's not like it was his fault for Kevin Lowe being an idiot.

with the jets having cap issues, is it reasonable to try for Wheeler? how about Oil 1st rd pick in '14 plus a prospect or D?

EDM could have just as easily taken Teubert with their 2008 first.

Seriously, how awesome is that show? Danger zone!
- ChetManly

My favorite show of all time.

Can't wait for season 5.

"Cyril, your new name is Chet!"

"I don't want to be CHet I want to be Cyril..."

"Everyone welcome CHet Manley!"

jones isn't a defensive stalwart either. he's high energy, but also a lot of wasted effort imo. someone said it recently that he cheats a lot on defensive coverage, and it's true.

this league is what have you done for me lately, and his past season was pretty abysmal.

wouldn't put penner on the third and rather jones on the 4th, so I half agree with you anyway.

- hugefemale dog77

Coming back from an injury where he almost lost all vision in his eye isnt an easy thing plus the lockout on top of that? You cant judge a guy on a shortened season and the fact he played half of it due to the rehab. This year he will show the jones from a year ago.

I don't think the Jets would move a top 6 forward right now considering Burmistrov just took off to mother Russia.

THey could probably move Hainsey.

Jones n Eager on first line. Eberle doesn't try too hard. petry doesn't look too motivated.

Penner didn't hurt LA when he had 11P in the playoffs n they won the cup. I'll take him with open arms

- TheNugeIsHuge

The difference between Petry & Eberle, and Penner is that the former are on our roster. You're suggesting to bring in a guy defined by his lack of motivation, and appear to be justifying by other guys that have (lesser) motivation problems.

As far as the Eager and Jones crack, there's obviously a middle ground between instilling a strong work ethic and organizing your roster based on effort. But you already know that.

Hainsey doesn't give us a substantial upgrade on anything we already have

You sure?

Regardless I highly doubt they move there top scorer.

I'd think they'd move Little and a couple others before they consider moving Wheeler.

No I meant that if they felt the need to trade someone to free up cap space they could without moving WHeeler.

I wasn't talking about Hainsey to the Oilers. Although I wouldn't hate it.

The worst thing about Penner is his seemingly lack of effort when it comes to conditioning and with his size he does not play a physical game for the most part. IMO it is bad for the Oil to bring back any player who WAS a big part of the terrible teams over the past 6 or 7 years. I was a season ticket holder in Edmonton from 2007 to 2012 and he was the most frustrating Oiler for me to watch during my time there.

Chicago didn't have a shutdown line.

I say you just sign the best players you can and if that means you have 4 scoring lines then who cares. Just outscore your opponent haha.

- Pilgor09

They had a shut down line that put up decent numbers. I still think you need a line that can go out there late in games and shut down the opponents top line.

If you win the game, then the effort put in is irrelevant.

There's not a better 3LW that EDM'll get for free, I'll tell you that much.

What about Cleary? His possession stats are similar to Penner's, no?

There shutdown line was Toews and Hossa.

Not there bottom 6.

heard he plays 22+ mins per game facing opposing team top lines. could be a good pick up, but edm need to dish out some extra bodies.
