And why would you want an underager playing in the AHL anyway? - bodiva88
In my opinion, they should have addressed the CHL/AHL rules a long time ago.
If a player has been drafted, and played in at least 3 JR seasons, he should be eligible to play in the AHL. Laughton is a perfect example this season. If he, for whatever reason, doesnt make the Flyers, would he benefit more from another year in JR's, or AHL? |

I think Haag will. He dropped because he had a bad second half. Morin skyrocketed in the ranks this season. I think Haag will be a better all-around player that plays in the top-4 (maybe top-2), and that Morin will be a bigger, meaner defensive defenseman on the 2nd pairing. But hell, I've never seen either skate against NHL or AHL competition, so I'm not sure. - jmatchett383
Ideally they will be the top pairing in a few years down the road. If Morin doesn't develop his offensive game and is a defensive defenseman than he and Haag may be good together. |

If they cut the state of New Jersey in half, at Trenton, and made each half of the state it's own separate state......I'd heartily embrace that. - johndewar
They'd have to cut it 3 ways as many folks in Central Jersey would not want to be considered North or South. |

The could cut it off at Mercer County.

Good thing that Al Gore hadn't invented the Internet yet or else Ilkka would be killed for that like Jeff Carter in 2010. - Flyskippy
possibly, but i disagree for the simple reason that carter had a reputation so to speak. ilkka never had that baggage. also, the timing of those two plays were quite different. |

So, say you have an 18-year-old that makes an NHL team, and the following year, for whatever reason, he doesn't make the team. All you can do is make him a healthy scratch, correct? Or can he be returned to juniors after a full NHL season? - jmatchett383
Even if they burn a year off their ELC, those players still have to go back to Juniors, like Grigorenko and Matteau did this past year. CHL rights over players extends all the way to 20, no matter what. |

That Flyers team beating that Powerhouse would have been an all-time sports "David vs. Goliath" type of story.
The fact that that Flyers team.....who had less talent and the talent they DID have was really banged up......the fact that they hung with those Oilers, to me, is mind boggling. - johndewar
an amazing run, riddled with injuries, that team DESERVED the cup. all those near misses in the first period of game 7. |

I agree. They've had him for 3 Seasons. That's enough. At that point, what's best for the player's development is what should matter. After 3 Seasons in Juniors, regardless of age. The AHL should be an option. |
