Up to this point in time it isn't close. Again despite Turris being 4 days older than Gagner, Gagner has nearly 200 more NHL games under his belt, and over 150 more points. Even in their NHL time, Turris has produced at a career average .44 points per game, and Gagner has produced .62 points per game over a much larger sample. To think Turris and Gagner are even players is just you over valuing your players and proving that you are, indeed, a big ol' homer. - JAKEw1234

I think we are going to see a fall-back this year for the Sens. - Aetherial
I'm thinking the same will happen to the Leafs. |

I never knew until this year how much Ottawa fans over value their players. I think as Oiler fans we over value our 5 or at least know their future worth. However we under value everyone else. Smid, gagner, Hemsky... all under valued by most people on here. People didn't think we would get something for Horcoff and we ended up getting a guy that might eventually make the team. I think Hemsky is going to bring us a prospect and a pick or be instrumental in a larger trade.
However I am not against keeping him either. Lets face it, the Oil are not addressing our third line (Jones and Eager are MAYBYs in my book), why not keep Hemsky if there is nothing out there. Calling a spade a spade, our team isn't the most injury prone. With the exception of guys like Smid and Gagner, whom everyone wants to send out on the next plane. - Hall Fan

So Turris will grow far past his projected level and far exceed his expectations in order to become the superior, or even an even player to, Gagner. And why will he exceed his potential so far as very few young players do? Because he plays for the Senators, obviously. Everyone knows that the Senators are the greatest team to ever grace this league and their coaching staff has the ability to turn coal into diamonds and turn Turris into a borderline 1st line center The dude will never be more than a 2nd liner. |

Buffalo does not need Hemsky - period. It's going to take more than that to pry away Vanek. Gagner & 2014 first is a nice start though - newmy

I agree with most of your points however Hemsky is NOT under-valued - he's a piece of glass that breaks every year & costs teams money because he's not playing.
And when he does play, he only plays when he wants to so that is a player that doesn't have much value & that is why he still remains an Oiler because other GM's know exactly what they're getting with him. Believe me, if everyone wanted him, he would have been gone at the trade deadline in a heartbeat. - newmy
Lst year Hemsky played almost a full NHL season and another 40ish games during the lockout without injuries. He did get a broken foot (which can happen to anyone) but he would have played through it if the Oil had a chance of making the cup. I think this has been the same for him over the last few years. Oilers have the luxury of not having their players play through injuries or to come back on time from them because they were not playoff contenders. Hemsky led our team in points for the first quarter of the season. For a while there, him and gagner were our only consistent producing players.
Hemsky is a great play maker and I do admit he coasts out there some games. When he turns it up, we have all seen him walk through teams. He is amazing with the puck and great at shootouts. Hemsky's injuries have been to a variety of places which is good and bad. He has never had concussion problems like Horton and he had a good season which is more than Gaborik could say before NYR signed him to an 8 mil contract after his stint of injury prone games. If Hemsky was a UFA he would get 5 mil from someone. He has his downsides but he is a small gamble on a 1 year contract.
Oilers have been waiting for him to be more aggressive with his shooting but his points speak for themselves when he is playing. 29 years old and he has 451 pts in 597 games. Not bad for mil if he turns it around. He has played almost his entire career on a team that never made the playoffs and got those numbers. |

I'm not too keen on a) overpaying for one year of Vanek (a player we don't really need) and b) trading for Drew Stafford. |

You're right, I can't stand players who are made of glass & only perform when they feel like it - that's the exact description of Hemsky which, as I've said before, is the reason he remains an Oiler.
You guys are over-valuing a player that other GM's really aren't giving up much for & after this year, you won't get anything for him & Gm's also know that. |

I agree. If Vanek were to sign long term with the Oil at a fair price, I might give up a lot for him but at 1 year when we are not projected to make the playoffs (although we will). He is not worth a lot to our team on a one year. Now if they wanted to part with Ott, I am all for that. |

Vanek was willing to sign here once. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't do a long term extension. |

But he's never going to do it consistently which is why other GM's won't give up much for him!! That's why the Oilers have been unable to move him because they feel they should be getting a decent prospect/roster player while other GM"s aren't playing that game. |

Dude's just an annoying homer who thinks that Turris's top-end potential magically increased from 2nd liner as soon as he was traded to the sens. |

I just don't think he adds much more than what we can get out of Hall/Eberle/Yakupov other than maybe being a bit bigger than them. |

Hockey Inside Out and RDS are saying a Possible three team deal involving the Habs, Oilers and Sabres is in the works, accoding to them, Montreal adds Ryan Miller and Vanek, the Oilers get a Habs defenseman and Carey Price, with Buffalo getting a Star Oilers foward, Gionta, first rounder McCarron and Two second rounders.

Yet. Too many teams have wholes to fill in their top 6. Hemsky is one of the only options. There will be a few GMs that will take a chance on him. Sather did with Gaborik. We sort of did with Perron. He will bring in a prospect and a second round pick. Trust me. If Horcoff can get us a prospect with his salary and decline in play since his injury, someone will take Hemsky. A prospect and a pick is a small price to pay if he turns it around. Heck it is a small price if you just play him for shootouts. |

What Dman would the Oils want besides for PK if they're giving up a star young guy? Have the Habs really given up on Price that much that they're willing to give big assets to bring in a head case like Miller? |
