wow again.. we dont need or want gagner... regardless of what each fanbase thinks of his skill level/size etc. it literally makes no sense for the leafs... end of non existent story - DarcyTucker16
Yea for sure, if there's anything the leafs need it's definitely not a center |

If skaters like hall, duchene, seguin, (assuming strong seasons) etc are left off for size we will not win gold. You'd think they'd learn from 2006. |

when he first showed up, McGinn was on fire with Stastny, last season he played with Duchene, now he is going to play with Downie and MacKinnon on the 3rd line. - DDM-Coga
how often does Duchene play the wing? with his blazing speed you'd think he'd fit on the wing so well. that and so much less attention to defensive detail, faceoff acumen etc etc/
free to use his skill set
then;
landeskog mac, parenteau
McLeod stastny, duchene
mcginn, ror, downie
that looks pretty solid and makes so much more sense imo. long term anyway |

id say as of today hall has the inside track on a spot and Duchene is on the bubble.
seguin would have to tear it up in the first half to have shot. his rep aint so good right now |

Agreed. If they have strong seasons their skating is elite and can't be ignored on the big ice. |

Woah MacKinnon is gonna be awesome but do you really think you can just throw him on a 1st line and expect him to be awesome right out of the draft? You gotta ease him into it. |

I'd be shocked if seguin makes team canada, as of right now I'd say he has the talent if he plays like we know he can but after his season/playoffs and glaring issues off the ice he would get looked over easily. They don't want these kinds of players going to represent them if they can't take it seriously |

I qualified my post when I said long term.
Duchene, statsny and ror can be 1,2,3 for now and theyre apparently playin mackinnon on the 3rd line wing to begin with |

oreilly on the wing and mac at 3rd line C?
interesting. ROR is a quality two way center, and I heard somewhere else mack was gonna play wing to start. made sense to me...
maybe I was mistaken |

yeah Roy likes the idea of O'Reilly trying the wing, said hes inspired by how they used to play Sakic and Forsberg on the same line in key situations.

I don't know if I'd play Mac on the 3rd line. Putting him on a checking line doesn't really help his offensive game much, look at what we've done with Couturier so far. He should be the #2 just so he can be on a scoring line and given mostly offensive opportunities. |

yeah Roy said that how they will start the season, ease him into the line up by having guys like McGinn and Downie protecting him while still being able to finish.
I just think it buys the Avs time to figure out what to do with Stastny or O'Reilly by the time the trade deadline hits. |

Yes and I maintain my point. Canadian goaltending is in a major state of flux. There is no clear cut starter that holds both stats and pedigree to his name. Price, Ward, and Luongo had bad years last season by their standards, but are the most likely to be chosen, and while neither Crawford nor Dubnyk are as high profile as those others, both had better stats than the aforementioned 3 and certain accolades/performances that may help in their selection (Crawrford has the most recent Cup, and Dubnyk has Int'l experience with Canada). I'm not saying he necessarily should be selected, but are you going to turn him down if (one the VERY off chance) he goes into the Olympic break sporting a .930 Sv % and a sub 2.10 GAA if none of the other have such?
Face it. There are no "locks" for Canadian Olympic goaltending. If you got your head out of your ass you'd understand what I'm saying. |
