Actually, if you did the math he was on pace for 27 goals this last year. There was no season throughout his career in fact he was on pace for 30 goals or more. - heh49314
And like I said before, the goal scoring is just a bonus for me. Everything else he also brings to the table makes him a very worth while player to have on board. With him, Voracek, Read, and Talbot on our RW, we're very stacked down the right side. |

Something to keep in mind when we get a little closer to the playoffs. We'll need a PWF I agree, but there's no chance we're giving up Nuge to get it (at least not Simmonds). - Morris
In order for us to land a Simmonds type player we would need to move Yakupov or Eberle to make room for him in the top 6 |

The problem with EDM is their assets are either worth way too much, or way too little If Hartnell is moved I would hope it's in a package for a top line scoring LWer, otherwise it's not helping the team at all. - JAKEw1234
I'm totally okay with moving Hartnell for a young top-9 forward. Thats all we really need back. It will give us some cap flexibility moving forward. Between the player we acquire and our pool of prospects, someone will emerge as a guy that can play meaningful minutes.
Hartnell creates a big hole in our line-up if gone, though. So it can't just be any player. It has to be someone that can play now, unless they then use that space to bring back Gagne for cheap (which is the plan if we move a contract)
Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
Gagne-Lecavlier-Simmonds
Talbot-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Laughton-Hall
I'm okay with this line-up depending on what we got for Hartnell. |

You realize that the asking price for Hall (this is hypothetical as he is probably the only actual "untouchable in Edmonton) would be a horrid overpayment for anyone inquiring right? |

and we just gave up Paajarvi and a 2nd for that exact thing, so that won't be happening.
You know I really don't think Edmonton and Philly make good trading partners right now the more I think about it. - TheTaoOfSemenko

Hey why dont you troll in blogs about your crappy team? Because the Sens are more boring than reading the yellow pages? - EdEagle
Edmonton fan calling another team crappy, quite hilarious. Your fanbase roots to lose year-over-year because they know there is no hope in winning. Hope you enjoy the top 10 pick and another year in the cellar. |

That's rough. Just so you know, I fully expect the Leafs to be out of playoff contention this year once they'll actually be asked to perform over an 82 game year, instead of a 48 game one. I truly believe that if this past season wasn't shortened your team would've under-performed in the final 20-30 games and fallen out. |

What would your price be? - JAKEw1234
Hartnell, Schenn, Coburn and a 1st.
Not happening from either of our perspectives. Sorry if that comes off homerish but that's kinda what it would take. |

Leaf fans are used to losing but, at least we aren't delusional. The Leafs will be in the 10-6 range again next year, barring significant changes. Teams need to take incremental steps to become a contender and the Leafs are on the right path.
Edmonton fans seem to think they are going to jump to the next level by going with the same crappy players as last season, or land a first line player for a combination of Hemsky, Gagner, Smid and Petry. |

Yeah a 27 goal scorer who plays a complete game - so what you're saying is this guy is exactly what the Oilers are missing - thankyou!! |

If you mean 8-6 in your division, then yes I could see that. You'll never win anything with that Doosher Phaneuf wearing your C. Edmonton is in the next wave of cup contenders along with Florida and Colorado. I'd personally like to see them trade one of Eberle or Yakupov for that top-tier minute eating #1 dman (See Pietrangelo, Alex), as that would definitely put them over the top, but to call 3 1st overall picks, one of the top RWers in the league in Eberle, and a very good center in Gagner a bunch of crappy players just sounds petty and jealous. |

Yeah I'm a homer for picking spezza who is clearly better, tutus they are a wash but turgid is better defensively and zibby because he has good potential |

Problem is he's already exactly what we need so we'd need to see an over payment from another team to let him go. We do have Read to fill his 2nd line RW spot but Read brings a different skill set than Simmonds. |

Just tuning in, and I don't actually know what players you're comparing here, but may I say that you do indeed come across as a hardcore homer. |

Normal people typically lie out of their mouths. As I understand basic human physiology, it would be physically impossible to lie out of ones ass as the anus isn't capable of forming words or expelling sounds other than farts.
The convo was pretty chill until you showed up spouting like a clown because someone may have (gasp!) said something uncomplimentary about your precious Maple Leafs. So either be civil or go away. |

Do you think that because you have NHL sources reporting it, or do you think that just cause you're a penguins fan and the league obviously revolves around the penguins 24/7? |

Oh I realize that - I wouldn't move a player like Simmonds anyhow - I was just stating he's the type the Oilers really need. I agree with you, he's way too valuable in every aspect.
So many people just comment on stats & they base a player on stats alone but Simmonds, as you mentioned, does so much more on the ice(beside score) and he's a great teammate, I know he has a foundation in Philly where he helps less fortunate kids with getting them started with hockey.
Great guy all around which is why it would take something special from any team to pry him away from the Flyers & he's exactly a Flyer thru & thru. |
