IMO a player who is an all time leader in wins absolutely should be on the list

You dont need inside info or know what your talking about to see the writing on the wall that the market for high price goalies has dried up. And the fact still remains the Sabres are a much better team with Miller and Vanek than without. So I don't get all the hate towards them.
- BigDawg

Because its a rebuild. Those two could have us chasing eigth and trade neither and screw the long term rebuild more

Not really. He had 7 30+ win seasons in a row, probably would have had 8 without the lockout. We didn't make the playoffs every year. In fact his Vezina year was after Saint Drury left town

Sure if you want to base it off of his GAA. He has consistently had an above average save % and an even better EV save %

I am very optimistic about the Sabres this year. They have a great blend of veterans rookies and everything in the middle, which if you look at recent Stanley cup teams, seems to be the best mix. No high priced UFA's, they ruin the chemistry. Have faith, Sabres have a great team, excited about the start of the season.

Agreed.
Miller is in the top twenty. Easily. People need to stop underrating the man and stop over romanticizing about the 70's. Sheesh.

Perhaps Garth should stop trolling and correcting OTHER members' grammar and focus on spellchecking his OWN blogs sheesh.

Anyways, this series of recent blogs from Kevin are starting to do exactly what they need to: creating topics for debate and that can be discussed by all of us. Keep up the good work Kev!

Very interested to get Buffalo fans take on Thomas Vanek's future, here in MN after signing Parise and Suter as free agents last year the general train of thought is Pominville being here means Vanek is not far behind when he makes UFA. If anyone besides Wild faithful believes Vanek is destined to return to MN, should the Sabres move him at the first opportunity to avoid losing leverage? Wild fans painfully watched Marian Gaborik leave for nothing in FA under a similar set of circumstances.

I think it just shows my point that Miller is not a top 20 Sabre, because I would still include Drury, Folingo, Craig Ramsey and Vanek all ahead of Miller still.

Pedestrian stats on a stacked offensive team. Biron won 13 in a row in those years.

- Mentalorgasm5

If you don't have the all time team leader in wins in your top-20 you're totally being a hater.

I think most people want both Vanek and Miller moved because we're afraid of losing them for nothing.

What do you think about Josh Bailey for Vanek. If Vanek resigns for 2 or more years you get the NYI 2014 1st round pick.

Bailey is a great 2nd line winger and on our top PK line. Many NYI fans think he's about to break out while others think he needs a change of scenery.

I honestly wouldn't blame Kevin for the fact that there is absolutely nothing new to talk about right now.

Also holy poop three Kevin blogs in the term of one Garth blog, that's gotta be a new record.

I would want more, but only a little more. And the pick would need to be 2015 since Vanek would still be Islanders property for a week after the 2014 draft. Maybe, Bailey and a a 2 in 2014, and a 3 in 2015 that becomes a 1 if Vanek resigns or the Islanders make the cup finals. I think that's pretty close to fair. Bailey is a great effort guy. I don't think he'll ever be a point-per-game guy, but he could be a good 20-30-50 guy that eats PK minutes. My guess is that Darcy wants more though, so it won't happen.

i am not a huge miller fan.. but when you look at his numbers (specifically his wins) with the team you have to give him consideration for the top 20.. i think Kevin put him in there where he belongs
