Absolutely wicked. Love em. Question. Have you heard the theory that white pads are best for tenders as shooters can't pick up the holes as fast? I remember Fleury switching from yellow because an optometrist told him that the first colour eyes pick up is yellow. I've got two sets of customs reebok Pz pads and blocker/trappe one is red and the other white. I alternate depending on the jersey we wear. Haven't seen a dif and wonder what ur thoughts are. - Hextall271
thanks. still breaking them in, but i really love the gear.
i have heard/read about the color theory with respect to pads. there could be something to this, so i won't say it's bs. i haven't had all white gear since the late 90s. maybe darker colors actually attract the eye and the shooters subconsciously are looking there rather the open spaces. i don't think there have been any studies as far as i know. |

Mocking the fact that March weather scared the hell out of him? - tangent_man
First there was a heated discussion on the thread where he eventually called me a racist and reported me.
But it was over whether Buzzgate2 would be a hard R or PG-13 and how many "celebrity guests" he was planning on showing up and if he thought he had any control over their behavior or the number.
He didn't think Skip and I were raising our kids correctly by bringing them to a party where people were drinking. That's when I blew him off the site. |

Right...he wanted to bring 'professional dancers' or something.
I hope you've kept Jason away from neighborhood barbecues.

Just to play devils advocate for a second, During Holmgren's era the Flyers are tied for second least with 30 picks. Which accentuates the claims that he trades draft picks like they are Holiday gift cards. I don't mind doing this if it's done the right way. Throwing picks away for stop gaps like Pavel Kubina is what I don't like.
And the average # of games played, how much of this number is inflated due to a ridiculous number of injuries? Calling kids up out of necessity who aren't ready to play in the NHL doesn't really reflect strong drafting imo. - PLindbergh31
Good points on the call ups. They should only use players who have played a considerable amoung of games in the NHL, because they were good enough to make the team. Holmgren shouldn't get credit for Lauridsen just yet! A little early.
A lot of teams trade picks for players to bolster a playoff run. |

Yeah, avg games played/pick is a pretty shoddy measure of draft success.
Especially that 2007-2011 range, where the results are skewed toward those teams that have brought up their prospects the fastest, for whatever reason. There's still a bunch of future NHL regulars that have yet to emerge from 2007-09 drafts, and we've only seen the tip of the iceberg in terms of the most recent drafts. |

I don't mind trading picks if a team is a player or two away from a Cup run. I prefer a GM be proactive, looking for ways to improve the team, which Holmgren does.
Trading a pick for a player like Pavel Kubina is what I don't agree with. He was nothing more than a band-aid. Trading picks for aging veterans by in large is bad business. |

On the days his neighborhood has a BBQ, MOAT gives J his car keys. J drives to my house where I give him & M4 a plastic Showboat cup full of tokens and dollars. Then they drive to AC and go nuts. |

I'm with you on keeping the picks.
Although Gagne for a 4th wasn't bad at all.
Even though they did sign Streit, I still do not understand the idea of trading away an asset for an UFA's rights. Just make him the offer when he turns UFA. |

Games played are important, but it doesn't really take quality into account. Just based on games, Toronto seems to rank above Dallas for the 2007 draft... but it would be hard to argue that coming out of a draft with just Jamie Benn is preferable to coming out with both Gunnarsson and Frattin. |

Does anyone remember the few games early in 09/10 (or maybe it was 10/11) where they'd have a kid say something along the lines of, "Doc Bressler's Cavity Busters is the best place for kids to get their teeth cleaned?" The kids always looked so depressed and confused, and it was a really shameful promotion. It lasted MAYBE 4 home games before they just had Shawny say something about them. |

He really was treating it like a bachelor party. He was slightly out of hand but he couldn't let it go even though plenty of core people objected including (and rightly so) every lady who attended the previous BuzzGate.
Then he got personal and it was over.
Bill made me go over to see if we could patch things up face to face at the game but neither of us had any desire. We politely waved from a distance and I went and got a beer while Bill chatted. |

To be honest, as a person without kids, if I'm going to a social event with people I talk to every day, but never see, I don't want to sensor myself around other's kids. Now I would never say you were a bad parent because my parents took me almost everywhere.. As long as you know that there might be cursing and foul behavior and your okay with it..... eh. |

Yeah, they've done some bad stuff with the in house entertainment. Honestly, I hate it all. Nothing was worse than than woman from survivor they had for half of a season. She was atrocious. |

No issue with trading a # 4 for Gagne. I hope Gagne returns this season. I was pleasantly surprised how well he played. He's not the dynamic offensive player he used to be, but he's very responsible defensively and showed he can stay healthy. Good teammate, and a solid veteran to set strong examples for the young players. |
