Here is something fun. The Flyers all-time Bum team. My friend and I were doing this, him with the rangers and me with the Flyers. You pick out the biggest bums ever to play at least a season for your team. Either they were draft busts, or you hated them.
I'll give you my first line...
Daigle-Gratton-Zherdev
Walker-R.Jones
Bryzgalov - youarewrong
As much as I'm a fan of hating Jones, I think you have to go Rathje on that one. Then it's a toss-up between Walker and Modry. I'd go Modry, only because the Flyers actually played him in the playoffs. Gratton's though, because he had 22 goals in his first season, but 1 the next year.
I'm also gonna replace Daigle because, as I've always said...No matter what the question is, Alexander Daigle is never the answer!

Hey, the bum talk is the jurisdiction of jmatchett and MJL. Thankfully, they've taken their posterior talk to PM's. - Flyskippy

Does anyone remember Marty Murray? He was kinda like Powe, with some more offensive pop and less hitting. Small, fast guy who worked his tail off every shift. I really liked him. |

Clarke was a good GM for the pre salary cap era. Homer is a good GM for the post salary cap era. I'm not sure why Clarke get hammered around here. We had more sucess outside of winning a cup with Clarke as GM then just about anyone else. I started watching hockey in 96. 96-the season without a name, we were one of the most dominate teams in the league. - youarewrong
One of the main criticisms of Clarke and the Flyers while he was GM was that he was slow to adapt. He was still constructing teams of bigger, slower, stronger players (players that would thrive in the clutch and grab era) when most of the rest of the league has embraced the rules changes and adapted more quickly. I think those criticisms are reasonable to some degree, but not to the point where I would label him, or his entire career as a GM as "bad".
Under Holmgren, some criticism seems to be the exact opposite. Rather than sticking with the same old formula, the Flyers (and many other NHL teams to be fair) seem to be trying to win last year's Cup by revamping their team in the style of the previous Cup winner, or at least attempting to do that. Much of what I see written in here and other places seems to want Holmgren to pick a strategy and stick to it (which he seems to be doing so far this offseason). That was never really something for which Clarke was criticized.

Also, MJL just couldn't hang. I have a theory that there's something permanently shoved way up in there. |

Jody Hull has a special place in my heart. When they reacquired him, my dad was listening to WIP. I think it was Miscinelli (sp?) who said, "Big announcement: The Flyers have acquired one of the biggest names in hockey. That's right, they have acquired Hull," at which point my dad screamed, "Not Jody Hull AGAIN!" It just made me laugh, and I'll always remember him as the other Hull. |

What was that line? Ranheim, Kent Mendenville?, and Hull?
Meh... I miss old time hockey. Hockey has been boring for me since 2004. |

Aside from Mike York, it sounds like the 2012 Baltimore Ravens. |
