Random thoughts, cause I'm bored and it's too damn hot to go outside!
Why is it summer always flew by when I was a kid in school and now it drags as I wait for the next hockey season to start?
With L. Schenn, Gus, Morin, Hagg, Ghost, Lauridsen and Alt, I'm starting to feel a lot better about the future of the Flyers D
Why are so many people in the U.S. fascinated with the birth of the next British royal? Didn't we fight a revolution so we wouldn't have to pay attention to these pampered inbred twits any more?!?!
Does anyone really know why this symbol ~ is on my keyboard? Anyone??
Late in their touring days, the Beatles often said they could not hear a thing during their shows cause of all the screaming, nor did they really think the audience could hear anything either. I wonder if in the middle of songs they sometimes sang, "please go frank yourself"; I would of!
Speaking of the Beatles, don't you just know that Ringo will be the last to die? And doesn't that just suck!
One good thing about the offseason: For 3 months I don't have to listen to Pierre Maguire lust after Crosby!
Wouldn't it be funny if Tortorella won a cup with Vancouver? Come on, as Flyer fans we could probably sell tickets to watch Ranger fans jump off the Brooklyn Bridge!
And finally, I have a friend who has memorized the number pi to over 100 digits. It goes without saying that he rarely gets laid
And now back to our regularly scheduled hockey chat! - BiggE

Best post of the day! There is absolutely no reason to have Laughton on team for more than the 10 games before being sent down. He's not making or breaking this years team. We Have plEnty of bottom 6 players. Actually he shouldn't be on the team next year either. Play Jr this year ahl next year then plan to bring him up. And stop signing every bottom 6 player to multI year deals. Let these kids develop properly. And yes I get it, he may be talented enough to play a role on big team but it's not needed and sending him down will not hurt him - SMS4016
So if Laughton is one of the best 12 forwards on the Flyers, that wouldn't be a reason for keeping him on the Flyers? |

So to sum it up: It's hot, Flyers are awesome, British people suck, British bands are awesome, symbols are cray, you're planning to kill Paul McCartney, irony is funny, pi is tasty. Did I get all of it? |

Correct. I'd feel differently if we were talking about say a mccinnon or jones because those are top end players playing key roles. Laughton will be playing mostly 4th line maybe some 3rd line. In a cap world you can't afford to blow those low paying years to help move along the development of a player. Now if there was no cap and no worries about future contracts fine keep him but it's just not worth it now. Look at grigorenko in buffalo. Burned that 1st year and still sent hom down. |

More goes into then that though, like starting ELC contract years, salary cap, number of roster players, AHL eligability. |

I agree that the Cap situation could force the Flyers to send Laughton back to Juniors. But stating that there is no reason for Laughton to be on the Flyers this upcoming Season, is simply inaccurate. There are plenty of legitimate reasons for Laughton being on the team this upcoming season. And you've got part of that backwards. What you can't afford to do is what's the opposite of what's best for the players development, because of Cap issues. That's the real risk. and what happened in Buffalo with Grigorenko is irrelevant. Every player is different.
It comes down to this. Is Laughton capable of playing as a regular in the NHL? Is Laughton one of the best 12 forwards on the team? And does having him in the lineup make the Flyers a better team? And the only thing that should get in the way of that. Is if the Flyers are forced due to the Cap, to send him back. And other issues such as Waiver issues with other players. |

We already know the answer to the AHL eligibility. So that's irrelevant. Starting his ELC is a non factor in my opinion. Cap and waiver issues with other players could factor in. But other then that, it's about what's best for the player, if he is ready for the NHL. And if he is one of the top 12 forwards. |

And he could have 2 full seasons of NHL experience by then
It's not really fair to him or his career to bury him in the OHL cause we don't really "need" him. I'd like to see him get NHL experience as soon as possible. It's not like we'd be rushing him, the guy looked close to NHL ready last season. |

Yea I have to agree. When I was a Kid, Summer left like an eternity. Now it like 3 months and done... Just another 3 months of the year. Before we know it, camp will start. Hell, they are already showing previews for shows starting in September.... |
