The private schools do exactly what they're meant to do. They isolate you from things. Whether they're good or bad is up to you. - PhillySportsGuy
I would say they weed out distractions, and things that get in the way of learning. If you want to say it isolates you from shaking in your boots because some guy named bubba might beat you up at lunch... then yea I guess. |

It's only doing that because you're boring the crap out of everyone with all this garbage about schools, neighborhoods, etc. This isn't demographicbuzz for crying out loud.

Seriously, it's putting me to sleep here. Somebody needs to argue about whose opinions the Flyers don't make decisions based on, or whether advanced stats are prophetic/garbage, or something. |

Then say something compelling that will get us all talking. Dont just sit there, say converstaion sucks, and expect us to entertain you. What am I, comedy central or something? |

It sounds like you're commuting there. Temple's campus is getting really nice, but it's still a ghetto/poop hole if you walk a block or two away from the campus. No joke, I knew people who got jumped/robbed on campus at night (including adults), so just be careful. If you plan on living on campus, either live in the student dorms, or live in another part of the city. You do not want to live in North Philly.
I had a good time there (went there for music a number of years ago and can see the campus from my place). It's a good school and the food trucks are awesome. Check out the tempanyaki truck and the crepe truck (if they're still there). You can thank me later. |

yeah i am commuting. hopefully save some money for at least the first year. my time down there at night should be pretty minimal. eventually i may look at living down there if the commute proves to be more of a hassle then its worth. i dont know what kind of housing options would be available for law students down there, as i know school providing housing seems to be pretty tight even for undergrad.
i looked at what a lot of other incoming students are doing, and they seem to be doing as you mentioned and living relatively close to the university, but a different enough area that the quality is night and day. frankly, i have no idea how they can afford such arrangements, as the prices to be fairly close but still in a well off area are astronomical. (especially when you consider that the school prohibits first year law students from technically working) |

If you meet some friends there, you can try and room with them the next year. Rent is always cheeper when it's split, so a lot of people go that route. North Philly is dirt cheap, but that's because it sucks and is dangerous. Center City is expensive, but even then if you split rent, it's not as bad. If you go down to Poplar (south of Temple), it's not as bad as North Philly. Anything pretty much north of Poplar is not a nice area to live.
If you're looking for a place, go through realtor companies, or padmapper.com
edit: also, look into student passes for SEPTA you can get through temple if you're going to commute. If they still do them, they are cheaper than going straight through temple. |

yeah i saw them. i think they offer like a ten percent student discount if you buy a trailpass based upon each semester. ive never really used septa except for the occasional busride before, but it seems like the best option here |
