They absolutely did. I think the Flyers had more road games at one point in the season than the Bruins had total games played.

Lot of time to practice--something most teams did not have the luxury to do with the lockout shortened off-season.

i know it cant be swept under the rug entirely, but i try to not worry too much about those things. if the players play up to the potential, you just hope those things kind of shake out on their own

If you're placed in the 4th hole, and you don't produce. You won't be there long. Some players are a lot better then others. One of the biggest issues right now is that Ryan Howard is not the run producer he once was. Even if he wasn't hurt and played pretty much the entire Season. Do you think he'd have more RBI's then Dom Brown? Just because he's in the 4 spot?
- MJL

Brown should be the Phillies 4 hole hitter unless Howard can take the job back from him by showing he can produce. heck, I'd sit Howard vs lefties and play Ruff vs Righties until he doesn't perform. Nothing is worse than watching your cleanup hitter whiff on a 3-0 pich out of the strike zone down by a run late in the game. Everyone knows Howard is not getting a 3-0 fastball over the plate except Howard!

And every time Howard is up late in a game in a key situation, he's going to see the situational lefty, and the slider on the outside part of the plate. Howard apparently can't figure out that he has to get ahead of the count early. Or swing at better pitches earlier in the count.

Nah.

0-2 slider.

Following a first pitch letter high fastball that was whiffed at, then an inside pitch chopped foul.

The dude reminds me of Pat (frank)in Burrell with his approach at the plate/pitch selection.

Goddamn. How many times do I have to laugh at him on that slider? Every time. Just like Burrell. They swing like they've never seen the pitch before in their (frank)in life.

How may times does he watch the hittable fastball go by without swinging earlier in the at bat. Knowing full well that is the best pitch he's going to get to hit. Or he takes a first pitch strike. Then they bust him inside and he fouls it off. And then it's all she wrote.
