As far as Crow having a weak glove, rebound control, goes down too early or any other "perceived" weakness ask a sniper like Kane, Stamkos, Guy Lafluer, Bossy or any scorer from any era and they will tell you no human being that ever played the position was without a weakness.
And ask anyone who ever reached the NHL level in any capacity if the position is played as much between the ears as it is with physical skill. It's the most difficult position in all of sport. Some end up suffering the equivalent of a boxer suffering pugalistic decadence, see Cristabol Huet, where the ability to compete mentally is nearly if not totally destroyed.
What dollar value Crawford is worth is way beyond my pay grade, but watching him win the cup after a horrid year the year before and evaluating his performance isn't. The Hawks don't win the cup without him.
I do like the idea of StanBowPops&McD looking at plans a,b and c should Crawford not be their goalie in 2014/15. |

Conn Smythe like other hockey awards is my casted...
The Finals especially the last games are overly weighted and it is easy for some to look at a stat sheet and see who scored the most points. - Al
Thought i heard something about how the IDIOTS who voted on the Conn Smythe did so rather hastily in light our rapid strike comeback.
The CS is for the WHOLE PLAYOFFS...and Crow earned all 16 wins and was CLUTCH when he needed to be. Good argument could be made for Kane, Bicks, Keith but Crow should have scored the CS.

Spent the day on a quest for variuos hawk T-shirts I wanted, so I went up the street to Wrigley Field, and unfortunately all the stores didn't have the ones that I saw guys wearing on the street that I wanted...I still bought three...anyway....
I was longing for the black skelton x ray shirt with the INDIANHEAD where the heart was, and a cool 17 second one I saw....
(I did find on Ebay a bootleg that had a heart and the tomahawk C over the heart.)
Anyway...the stores by Wrigley told me they had pulled huge parts of their inventory to sell them at higher prices at the convention next week.
That another issue, but this is what I wanted to throw up here...
I did various searches using "17 seconds Chicago Blackhawks" i found a few lame variations BUT THEN I was lead on one to the NHL.com website...where I saw two different T shirts:
ONE was by Reebok and I didn't like it because it says..."Chicago Blackhawks 2013 Stanley Cup Champions 17 Seconds of Glory T-shirt"
To me, that diminished the win...like it was only 17 seconds OF GLORY....like it reads.
any way and here is the strange part -------there was a second shirt entitiled,
Rinkside Chicago Blackhawks 17 seconds T-shirt
The Shirt used the the "It's the Cup " in it, but I didn't mind because that was tolerable where only 17 seconds of glory wasn't.
So I ordered the shirt....I got confirmation....then i realized they only shipped FedX and I probably shoul have had it sent to one of my daughter's homes where we stop in next couple weeks....so i called SHOP NHL and the lady found my order, found the shirt, and said she couldn't adjust the shipping address BUT she could cancel the order and I could re-order and have it sent elsewhere....
We did that, and within seconds I went to find it again....
and IT WASN"T ON THE SITE....here is the link.
http://shop.nhl.com/searc...mpions+17+seconds+t-shirt
You just get no items like that as a response
I called them back told them the story they tried with the item number NO LUCK not THERE for them either! I give them the order number and they find the order but have no clue why after selling me the ONE shirt the site suddenly wasn't showing it as a item for sale....
I wonder if the NHL shop just shipped all of those to the convention, and I am SOL.
If anyone is at the convention and sees a Rinkside T shirt with a 17 seconds on it....scoop it for me in XL and I will pay you and reward you with some very old Blackhawk memorabilia...

And Crawford did NOT deserve the Smythe. - John Jaeckel
I disagee...he kept them in games with incredible periods on precision....when they needed it.
I an not playing him more than he is worth but i really think he was significantly better all season, and I gonna give him the time to continue to get better.
I just don't thing he was suspect or showing any weaknesses in huge portions of the games. and granted the way you are unable to "slow" attackers as in the past, you are going to get ample chances where you have to be the guy...and he was.
...and we all know the very nature and speed of attack makes opportunities arise and pucks coming from the least likely angles due to stick reroutes, deflections....
On Crawford for years I said, to show me, there are times when he ( a team's goalie) has to make that big save the one that looks more than likely TO go in, and until he does I an not buyying.
Well, I thought there were plenty of thoses in the last 8 games he played, and he showed me.
All the business about the glove hand and aiming for it well, most shooters shoot there against MOST goalies...you continually challange high glove to open the down low. |

Not sure if you actually read this board, but I'd like for you to find a post in which someone says Crawford is elite. How about you ask his teammates if he's a good goalie (note - I did not write the word "elite")? Good goalies get paid more than 10 bucks a game. I think Crawford is an above average NHL goalie, and so do many posters here. You will need to get over that and move on. - mohel
Check the attitude, chief. Or go post somehwhere else.
Wait, I'm sure you're one of those martyrs who claims he's being picked on when constantly escalating. Just keep going then. It'll get dealt with.
I heard an opinion of him as a goalie from a teammate a while back by the way. Regardless, they aren't going to throw him under the bus publicly. Really? I won't comment on the quality of that logic |

No, he had some good games and a couple of not so good games, most notably the game where Boston just repeatedly exposed his glove over and over again. That was not a Smythe performance by a goalie. He saw less shots and less quality shots game after game. Not a Smythe oerformance. He never had to carry the team.
Agreed and disagreed on the glove. It was plainly obvious to EVERYONE, Boston (and Detroit too) were going after his glove, and with great success. Their players said as much. |

Same wavelengths there were so many attackers who had strong control close in front who he "conrtolled"and his pads leg movements were squelching the chances.
THE RICHARDWAD MEDIA was slurping a Rask so hard and praying for the BIG BAD BRUINS who were going to destroy the little hawks with their badass play, and the Hawks would have nothing and no one to defend and stop the Bruins that they built the Crawford weak side story in the few periods where the hawks didn't score and the Bruins hit the Hawks and scored a few...
the used their incredible insight to plan Crawford's demise - and you know what?.....he beat the Bruins and his detractors....and the WAS the story.
Can Crawford ever do that again?
I am not sure but sure happy to see him try at his present salary.
But he was the one who held it together and the gut out way so many played despite injuries.... |

As do ALL goalies in most games. Proves NOTHING.
Was he good in the playoffs? Overall? Absolutely. Did he let in a few softies? Yes. Did he ever really have to carry the team? No, not at all. Did he get absolutely exposed in one game? Yes.
It was not a Conn Smythe performance by a goalie. Good enough to win behind a great team. Maybe even better than good enough. I won't begrudge him that. I also won't get on the Corey Train like some, because he is what he is.
Funny all the "umbrage" taken when I said he was the Hawks' Chris Osgood. To all those who got their shorts in a wad, get some perspective and some knowledge of hockey history. Chris Osgood might be in the Hall of Fame some day. Good f---ing God.

You throw attitude often, chief. My attitude in my last post was an exact quote of the language you used toward me - how's it attitude when I do it? Since your earlier post there have been many who agree that Crawford deserved the CS, but I still haven't found anyone saying that Crawford is as good as Rinne, Rask, Quick or King Henry, as you have alleged several times.
Yesterday you said I was wrong about Crawford's cap hit compared to others. When I gave you the evidence to support my point you compared me to a drunk. Now today you totally misrepresent my (and others') position on Crawford's skill level (as others above have pointed out, too). And I need an attitude check? That is rich... |

People seem to be underrating how few quality chances the Hawks give up 5v5 versus the chances they get. The possession numbers are astonishing. I think there were three games all playoffs the Hawks lost the possession battle. The defense of this team was extraordinary. Crow finished 5th in SV% in the playoffs. very good, not the best, and not Conn Smythe worthy. #KeithforSmythe |

Rask at $7M or Crawford at $4M is the more appropriate question in the cap era, I think. The Bowman's would pick Crawford. |

Ok. Here is the controversial question. On Team Canada, who is 2C? Stamkos, Toews or Bergeron? - faustus1500
Stamkos is going to play wing. Too many great 2-way centers. But as always, "whoever is playing with Toews" continues to be the best line in almost any game 19 plays |

Narrowing the Canadian forwards down to four lines cannot be an easy task - not about wondering whether a particular guy should be on there, but more the great players who are not going to make the lineup. |

Hawks have a good defense NOT because of, NOT in spite of, but INCLUDING Crawford.
Seven men on the ice every night who work together, do their jobs, do what they have to do, to minimize opponents chances and goals.
ESPECIALLY at critical times in games.
Crawford an integral part of that. - StLBravesFan
You haved hit the nail on the head
Defence is team defence not just a goalie
You build the team from the defenseman out and pay accordingly
Hawks have done that and other teams have not.
Crawford is part of that
Enough said
Price
Linquist
Rask
Luongo
Pikirini
All maybe better

I think it is safe to say the voting process isn't what you would expect....As is the 3 stars of teh game.
Kane had the most points and was good in the Finals...No one else stood way out to most I guess but many who voted didn't see or didn't weigh in the previous 3 series. |

Same here. Not the biggest Rask fan and I thought it was absurd how the media painted him up to be Jesus Christ as a goalie during the SCF. Jimmy Howard was hands down the best goalie the Hawks saw all playoffs and by a wide margin. |
