why wouldn't another team offer sheet him? he might not sign it but a lot of teams wold offer more then his deal IMHO. - coffee junkie
Not the type of player that would get an offer sheet. Look at high profile RFA's such as Subban and Pietrangelo. They didn't get offer sheets. Plus Couturier would have to go into next off season, unsigned to receive an offers sheet. Why would he risk that? |

I like the deal as well. I hope u r correct about Read. I'd love to keep him here. - Hextall271
Agreed. I would love for them to keep Read. He is the type of player you need to win a championship. Maybe not the most heralded but he has so much value for his versatility. |

4.5 mil over 2 years, that would be high end, schenn will wait in hopes of having a good year though - MrPerfect316
I would probably sign that if Schenn would. |

That would actually reduce his cap hit which would be awesome. Currently the combined hit for Coots and Schenn is 4.495 million. If Schenn's next deal has a cap hit of 2.25, the combined hit is then 4.0 million. In that case, with the cap expected to rise significantly, and assuming Timonen retires, I don't see any reason why Matt Read can't be re-signed and a top 4 dman acquired via free agency. |

Schenn's cap hit drops below that $3.11mm, though. The new CBA gives teams the option to defer bonuses, and a large part of Schenn's deal is bonuses. |

What does Schenn actually earn including realistic bonuses.

I consider Randy a friend, so I will say this: He's actually a real good guy, good writer and very passionate about his job. His biggest flaw is that he gets too emotional and sometimes his temper gets the best of him. - bmeltzer
Twitter does him no favors. He comes off like such a jerk and blocks people for petty stuff. |

He's going to make $990K, at least. His base is $900K, with a $90K signing bonus. All the rest is various performance bonuses. I'm not sure exactly what they are, although it's been reported that two of them are games played and minutes averaged. |

The specific bonuses in his contract is not available information. Schenn's Cap hit technically does not drop below 3.11 at the start of the Season due to the bonus cushion. A team can use the bonus cushion to become Cap compliant. But that doesn't change his cap hit. His cap hit, or to be technically correct, his cap charge to the Flyers, only will change when it is deemed to be impossible for him to meet one or any of his bonuses. And that is determined by the League. But until then, the Flyers have to account for every penny of Schenn's full Cap hit until such time. That goes for any player with bonuses in his deal. |

Schenn's paragraph 1 salary is $810,000 for the upcoming 13/14 Season. All a signing bonus is, is part of his salary paid upfront. It is not in addition to his salary.

I cracked up yesterday when PuckDaddy referred to the Metropolitan Division as the "Metrosexual" Division.
I knew it wasnt going to happen, but am sincerely peeved anyway that they didnt bring back the Smythe, Norris, Adams, and Patrick Divisions. Hockey has a tremendously rich history and there's no shame in embracing it. Unless of course you are a granite hearted poison dwarf like Bettman (next time I wont hold back and I'll let you know how i REALLY feel).
Also, am very happy that they inked Coutourier to what looks like an eminently reasonable deal. |

Dreger said this a couple of years ago. BSchenn isn't going to get a big bonus this season.

In the third year of Schenn's contract, he doesn't have to play the 25 minutes in all regular season games to earn a handsome $1.5 million dollar bonus, but to qualify he would have to have an All-Star season, finish among the league's point leaders and win a major award. |

This Season as far as bonuses are concerned for Schenn is the worst year of his contract for the Flyers to deal with. If what Dreger says is true, and I don't doubt that it is. It won't be determined until late in the Season, if at all during the Season. That Schenn won't make those bonuses.

is that what we're thinking? something along those lines? maybe caps out and isles/jackets in? - FlyerMike18
I like the Isles to make it over the Caps. Caps can't rely on easy division points anymore, time to play with the big boys. Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa will battle it out for the last spot in their division. Columbus comes down to earth this season. |

Sad isn't it. I think Bob plays well, just not Vezina-well. I'm not saying they finish near the basement, I just don't see them contending for the 8th spot. |
