How about Ek's blog the other day. "Which team do you think will win it all next season?"

I voted for the Panthers! Barkov, Huberdeau and company are going to be sick in those playoff shootouts!

His question was "Who is your Cup Winner as of July 21?" The answer is the Chicago Blackhawks. They will be until at least next June. |

He's strictly a Metro guy now. Can he pull it off with a mullet? - PLindbergh31
Business up front, party in the back.
Hmm. Sounds metro to me. |

Kind of speaks volumes about the news media dragging out the NFL season 365/24/7, eh? - Flyskippy
They're so bad at it though. Somehow Bill comes up with interesting blogs every day yet the people at CSN can't write one readable article about the Eagles or Flyers. |

Why hasn't Shelley signed with a team? Surely he's not going to be forced into retirement right? He's going out on his terms right?

Two things:
1) The media no longer sees fit to inform the public, but to form public opinion.
2) The media is more about making money (selling the news) than about truth or giving subjects equal time. That's a part of the problem of having a 30-minute news show being almost 12 minutes of weather. It wasn't that long ago you got 20-25 minutes in then heard, "Sports and weather next." |

Oh, yeah, since I wasn't around when this blog went up...
I'm not sure exactly when I became a Flyers fan. It was sort of ingrained upon me via my parents. One of my earliest memories was in our first house (from which we moved when I was 3). I was sent to bed for a nap, but I snuck out of bed to play with my dad's tabletop hockey game because (for some reason) it was stored under my bed. I was caught... I learned what the penalty box was that day.
After moving to Westmont, we were amongst the first to get Prism and Mom & Dad would have lots of folks over for Flyers' games on TV. They got Prism because it was the next-best thing to Dad having the season tickets he gave up after he and Mom found out I was on my way. Don Saleski was my first favorite because of his nickname (I didn't realize I could grow similar hair until some 35+ years later). He was soon supplanted by Bobby Clarke. I loved watching his toothless grin on TV -- especially after I lost my own front teeth. New ones grew in... |

I find shows like Sportscenter so boring now. It used to be all about highlights. You could keep up with every team. Now its a talk show. |

Haven't watched Sports Center since Dan and Keith broke up.
EDIT: Not counting the times I've been to Canada and have watched "Sports Centre." |

My parents took me to see the Flyers for my sixth birthday in 1971. But I can't honestly say I became a fan until a few years later. Honestly, though, my fandom is as strong now as at any point in my life. I am one of those "four-for-four" Philadelphia fans - really six-for-six, including the Union and the Soul, but the Flyers these days run neck and neck with the Phillies for my true favorite and that was not always the case. |
