after reading this on those clowns' trade wars blog and seeing both sets of fans not particularly like the deal i wanted to float a couple of things your guys way and see what you thought....

what would you guys think of eller, tinordi & a 2nd for williams, clifford, & muzzin.

from an age perspective...LE is 24, JT is 21, JW is 31, KC is 22, & JM is 24.

what you would get...

JW - 33 pts in 48 gms last year. led the entire NHL in the corsi last year(over 10 gms) and was 5th 2 years ago(over 30 gms). great leader. clutch.

KC - size and physicality that you guys are looking for. good skater. only missed 7 games ghe last 3 years. tied for most points in career in only 48 gms last year.

JM - 6'3" 215 - led kings in +/-. was #2(behind JW) in NHL in corsi last year. good mix of Off skill and physicality. cannon shot for the PP. was on pace for 13 goals in 82 gm season last yr.

no need for me to descibe what youd be giving up. you already know.
so what do you think? is that a good return for the canadians? not enough? would getting muzzin make it easier to trade JT considering hes only 3 year older? would this trade work from your team and organizational depth point of view? in terms of posession, would the thought of a max-DD-williams line make sense to you guys considering that would have(left to right) the 6th, 22nd & 1st best corsi's in the nhl on the same line?

thanks in advance...just looking for a different perspective on the value of both sets of players.

i say no, not because it's not a fair trade, i just don't like the fact that the key piece coming Montreal's way is turning 32 this year, while we give up a 24 yo and a 21 yo. i don't like any trade that makes us older, especially after signing Briere and Parros in the offseason. this team isn't a contender yet.

he is but i don't think that move is in line with what MB is trying to do--keep the team competitive enough to keep his job while he builds a core through the draft and has the luxury of supplementing that core through trades.

personally, i'm against any trade that makes the team older and/or smaller.
and in this case, Montreal loses it's biggest forward (don't say Parros) and biggest defenceman, even though Muzzin isn't small.
