It will be Leafs only this time not Marlies regarding Ranger, Franson as I said all along is going to be traded, I have a gut feeling about it.

Ok, so I know this is off-topic and has probably been asked a million times, but what exactly happened to Paul Ranger? I've heard, from a buddy of mine playing in the ECHL (he's home now and training), said that he heard Ranger's highschool girlfriend broke up with him while he was in Tampa.

I've read reports ranging from he went back to school, to he had drug issues, to he didn't wanna play. So people, what do we know?

I can only imagine the long list of teams lining up to throw their money at Paul Ranger, who has played 51 AHL games in the last 3 seasons.

I dont think its been made public ever. I also heard his wife got ill and he took time off to be with her. Who knows. He was a good player for Tampa and hopefully can get his game back

Phaneuf, Kadri, Colborne and Percy for Tavares? Maybe?

It depends on their plans with Brennan imo...if they signed him with the intention of him being the 6th-7th guy then yes a trade must follow...if he was signed as depth who will lace em up with the Marlies...then Ranger makes it 7 NHL defenseman. Though the cap would be damn tight.

Congratulations Dave Nonis...you're officially making our suspect defense even worse. This guy is NOT an NHL calibre defenseman. And his signing seems like it will have to come at the expense of someone who actually is.

Yeah, I've looked all over and have found nothing conclusive. My buddy said he heard it from guys affiliated with Tampa in the ECHL who knew Ranger while he was in Tampa and their system. My friend plays for the Florida Everblades and shall remain nameless for incriminating purposes lol, but I trust his word as being the closest to the truth based on his sources. Either way, wish Paul the best and think he'll do just fine in TO.

I believe a team never has too many defensemen.

Signing a depth guy like Ranger doesn't mean there WILL be a trade.

You have seven NHL defenseman there...I wouldnt consider your AHL guys or Rielly in that list. Likely nothing more than a depth move.

I would rather have 6 NHL defencemen and have one of holzer, blacker, brennan, etc.. be the spare.. give more of the young guys shots
