Did I say that, Mr. Assumptions? No. Let me guess, the situation is somehow ironic as well, right? I never said the blame should be placed solely on others, but when you're addicted like he was, you have little to no control on the situation. Someone should have, and NEEDED to, step in and help him. When you see someone in trouble, you help them. People do that on a regular basis for total strangers, but not a single member of his family could assist him? That's insane.

Also, Instead of picking fights that you always lose like a complete jackass, contribute and stop making enemies with everyone.

To be honest, in all reality, I would say that his teammates should have been the ones to step in even before his family. He spent 5+ days per week with them. At that point, they were his family. And that goes for both his Wild teammates and his Ranger teammates.

We can't assume that they didn't though. It's sad that his brother was essentially helping him out be we don't really know all the circumstances and the Dr's were the ones that really needed to make sure he didn't get to the point that he was looking to outside sources for it in the first place.

There's so many people that could be held partially responsible it's not even funny. And that includes Boogaard himself too.

That's just it though. It shouldn't be socially acceptable no matter who you are or what you do. It's dangerous for the person doing it, and it's dangerous for the people around them as well. Who's to say someone like that isn't getting behind the wheel of a vehicle?

The whole thing has been extremely eye opening. That's for sure. I can't say that I understand what it's like because I hate taking pills for anything, never smoked a cigarette (and no desire to even give it a try) and I'm not a huge drinker. I'll have a few beers like once a week and that's about it.

I agree with this to a point, but his brother was involved. He knew. And I believe the whole family knew about the rehab stint. Obviously that's way after the problem started, but they knew that it was a problem and 2 years later he died because of it.

More of the blame should always fall on the person that has the problem. If they don't want to change, nothing that their family, friends, or anyone else does matters. They have to want to get past it.

I just got back from a 4 mile walk. I was lazy today. Only ran 1.5 miles of it today.
