Yup. There are so many little details that we will never know that we really shouldn't make assumptions on what was done and what wasn't. All we can do is hope that the NHL, teams, Drs, players, and their families have learned their lesson and won't let it happen again.

Well I think it has more to do with people thinking that Pro-athlete's take good care of themselves and their bodies, since it's their "tool" if you will.

The worst thing is, there was still 2 more lives lost AFTER Boogaard in Rypien and Belak. You would think that they would keep a closer eye on guys, especially Rypien because of his decade-long depression. I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been another death since that off-season.

Call me a moron but I have been around drugs all my life from XTC to cocaine to percocet. If someone does not want help you cant help them.....you give the easy answer but obviously have never been around or done drugs...

It is kind of sad Boogaard´s family is suing the NHL this only exsists in the USA. Blame the NHL instead of the people or persons really responsible. The NHL should sue the family.

Apparently none of you have seen the show intervention. Family and friend try and mitigate the harm, not eliminate it in order to try and 'help them'

Until an addict takes accountability for their own actions, nothing will change for them. Until that time, their loved ones do as best they can.

Dolling out pills systematically for your brother is 'better' than letting him self medicate.
