Claude Giroux has already spent five years as a Flyer. This season is the tail end of his contract and then he'll be getting paid top dollar for eight years. Should Giroux see through the better half of the next nine season as Flyer, where will be rank between Bobby Clarke and Eric Lindros, the two most legendary of Flyers? - dingo8urbaby
win cup Bobby Clarke equal, win two cups best Flyer ever

win cup Bobby Clarke equal, win two cups best Flyer ever - Winning
Bobby Clarke has two Cups as the Captain of the Flyers in it's history. Also when it comes to Eric Lindros, Flyers fans don't seem to be bothered that he has never brought a Cup to Philadelphia. He just built his own legend from his body of work on the ice win or lose. Simply a different animal from all the rest. Lindros today might be even more poppular Flyer all time, even above Bob Clarke simply because the younger generation never saw Clarke play. |

Clarke is IT for me.
Boyhood hero.
I love G and if he wins the Cup he will be right up there, but no one will replace Clarke. |

Hey guys,
I am in the middle of planning a trip across the pond atm, and I was wondering: how hard is it to get tickets to matches? Specifically we are looking at tickets to double matches the 15th and 16th of march between the Flyers and Pittsburgh.
Where should one order tickets? And is it possible to get hold of them?
Any answer is greatly appreciated! |

This is actually a great topic to discuss.. If he continues at a top level.. 90+ points, stays relatively healthy, and can get us at least TO a Cup.. he will bypass Lindros.. if he cant... he will be in the second tier. |

To me, the only way he bypasses Lindros is if he becomes THE DOMINANT player for a time. Lindros won a Hart Trophy, should have won an Art Ross, and, when healthy, was the dominant player in the game for a stretch of maybe 3-4 years. Giroux's going to have to either lead this team to a Cup, or win a few Hart Trophies. And no, no one will pass Clarke. He is the gold standard. |

He'll pass Clarke when he becomes GM and can remember who he's drafting |

Giroux can topple Lindros just by staying healthy and playing the way he has the past few seasons. Lindros only suited up for the Flyers for a total of 486 games.. To put that into prospective, Braydon Coburn only has to play in a total of 32 games this season to surpass him.
If Giroux can remain healthy, and be a 70-90 point player for the next 5-7 years, I think he will easily surpass Lindros without needing to win a Hart. |

I don't think that is the case at all. It's far more then about scoring points, or longevity. Lindros dominated the game for a number of years. And was the best player in the League for a numbr of years. Giroux would have to reach that level, or lead the team to a Cup win to surpass Lindros in my opinion. |

So if Giroux ends up playing 1,000 + games and puts up 1,000 points + as a Flyers, with out winning a cup or a Hart trophy, he wont surpass Lindros?
I respectfully disagree..
Giroux would be the 2nd player in franchise history to achieve either of those stats.
EDIT: I shouldnt have put a time frame on it.. If he can finish his career with the Flyers and continues to perform as one of the top players in the game... |

usually the teams' website is the place to start. If none are available there you can always check stubhub.com |

It's more a matter of opinion, than anything. Sure, Lindros dominated the game more than I think Giroux ever will, but Cup wins carry a lot of weight.
That said, my favorite Flyer of all-time is Dave Poulin, closely followed by Bobby Clarke. Clarke was my favorite but when Poulin arrived and showed determination and heart without anywhere near as much natural talent as Clarkie, I had a new favorite. Poulin is the ultimate example, to me, of a player whose huge heart closed the gap with more naturally talented players on a night in/night out basis.
My point being that "best" is not always clear cut -- nor does it always come with championships. |

That would certainly put him up there. If Giroux goes on to have a Hall of Fame career, then he would surpass Lindros. And that is quite different from what you wrote in the previous post I replied to. But it's more then just about points. Lindros was dominant. |

Loved Poulin. He was a class act and a great player.
To further your point, my favorite Flyer remains Brad McCrimmon. He wasn't flashy or the best player in team history. Just a nice cog that helped his team run like a finely tuned Rolls Royce. |

Beast is my favorite Flyers d-man of all time, just a touch ahead of Howe because he could hit like a Mack Truck. Jimmy Watson is 3rd. |

Howe is a close second for me. Then probably Desjardins, followed by Watson.
Oh, and (frank) Doug Crossman |
