Got to give cudos to this blogger, even though he has very little understanding of what is going on in Phily (only what he could read from other bloggers). Let just look at the comments on his last 5 blogs: 10, 12, 20, 10 and 4, and this one….235 so far! And, understanding that some people might see right thru his little scheme he adds this:
--That for highlighting the details of this situation and tossing in a bit of sarcasm for fun more people will call me an idiot in the comments to this blog than Paul Holmgren?
Just in case…So here is a lesson for all you bloggers of Carolina, Nashville, Columbus, Florida, LA, NJ, NYI etc., if you want to get hits even if you don’t know what you are talking about, just write about teams that people actually care about or jealous about and you’ll be fine! - SGTrader
The Canes do have a large following in North Carolina but this is not the site of choice for most to make comments. Number of hits on hockeybuzz blogs is not an effective guage of fan support. |

Matt, I'm a fan of yours as a blogger but you walked into a hornets nest on this one. I grew up in PA as a Flyers fan. I've been living in North Carolina since the early 90's. It was not until the trade for Rod BrindAmour for Primeau that I adopted the Canes. I was one of those who went to the games and rooted for the Flyers. Going to the games with my kids has cemented me as a Canes fan. I believe as far as trades with the Flyers, Rutherford has had the upper hand. Most of them have been beneficial trades. BrindAmour, Justin Williams and Joni Pitkanen have all played important roles in the Canes franchise. - Barbecued Hockey

What can I say. I'm getting old and still remembered him as a Flyer. |

Canes blogger trolling the Flyers for page hits because nobody cares about the Canes. Typical. |

Good paper!
All GMs have their bad days. It just seems like PH outworks the other guys in that department. I mean Letting Bobrovsky go to lock Bryzgalov to crazy $ hit and term has to top the list.
And as pointed out by someone else before, Snider seems OK with the mess as long as the revenues keep coming and growing. You cant argue that business wise, Flyers are a decent model. Operations wise, not as bright.

The Kings do not win the cup with Simmonds, Schenn.
These guys were a huge part of the Kings cup run and deep run in the playoffs this year. Those points are not even up for debate.
Holmgren did sign both to very good deals AAV. As a Kings fan I appreciate what he did. - fsanford
No, I agree that Richards and Carter were huge pieces to the Kings Stanley Cup. Never trying to debate that.
But trading them away didn't cost the Flyers a Stanley Cup. Maybe deciding that Brian Boucher and Michael Leighton were good enough at the 2010 trade deadline did. |

That ridiculous buyout clause has saved the Flyers from Homers madness. They would be screwed 10 ways to Sunday stuck in the contracts of Bryz, Pronger, and Briere.
Anyways, don't waste your time Karash. Flyer fans and reality don't mix. You'll find out soon enough, welcome to the division. - Sell My Monkey
Reality: Since 2009, when the Penguins won their last Stanley Cup, they have won three playoff series. The Flyers have won five in that time, including one against the Pens |

Yep. They did. But since then, despite having two Hart trophy caliber centers and a Norris finalist on the blueline, they have won 3 playoff rounds in 5 years. |

To be honest, in this timeframe, I'd rather the Cup and 3 rounds. Now if in 6 or 7 years this trend is still going on, I might change my opinion. |

As he is this sites official Canes blogger then yes it is trolling. Whether you or I agree with him is secondary. |

As would I. Anyone who would prefer no Cup is foolish. But it's been 5 years since the Pens won the Cup and they've won 3 playoff rounds since that year....so it's been almost 6 years. |

It's trolling if you make lazy and unresearched remarks, don't provide context, and purport to be a serious writer on a blog.....yeah, it's trolling.

Homer moved Richards and Carter and got B. Schenn, Coots, Voracek, Simmonds and a draft pick traded for Grossman. Simmonds and Voracek alone got more points than Richards and Carter did last year. The Flyers managed to move 2 good young players and get younger, stronger, faster, bigger, deeper and just all around better. Richie and Carts won a cup on the 2ND LINE, much different than playing on a first line.
Anyone who thinks that deal was even close to bad for philly should not be writing about hockey.
Homer still has a job because he went off and got the top free agents in every position this offseason. The top O, top D and top Goalie (statistically speaking) ended up Flyers this year. Last season people were saying the Pens GM was a god for trading away a ton of future and getting the team two players who were Captains of their team... they held onto those players for about a month. Flyers GM went and got 2 players who were Captains of their team for 4 years and gave up nearly nothing.
When the Flyers signed Bryz they got themselves a goalie who was a Veznia finalist the year he hit free agency. Bryz is 100% a good goalie, he just is not an elite goalie. He went out there last year and started off the season as the best player on Philly. He was a beast. Then, after the Flyers found out Bryz was the only goalie on their roster who didnt give up 5 goals a game they decided to start him every game. Bryz got tired. So we had a tired goalie in an O first system. The D in front of Bryz started dropping like flies as well. If you recall, they had 1 of their top 10 D healthy by the final game of the year.
Fatigue goalie +AHL D + a system that is O first = goalie getting hung out to dry game after game. That goalie managed to put up numbers equal to other elite goalies like Marty and Quick this year as well.
So with all that said, maybe you should rethink this post, because if it was not for the Flyers fans paying more for tickets (which if you have ever been to Montreal where I am from, or any other places with very large and passionate hockey fans, you would know just how pricey ticket for loved teams could be) you would not have an article here.
Sorry if I am coming off as rude or anything. I am just trying to talk hockey, people tell me that I come off pretty arrogant when I talk hockey. |

The NHL should've eliminated 4 teams, raised the cap to $80 and have a contraction draft to absorb all of the players from Florida, Carolina, Phoenix, and Tampa Bay. The draft should be a full lottery for all remaining 26 teams for an equal chance to get the #1 pick. I'm so sick of seeing good players going to these bad hockey markets, those teams continue being bad, wasting their careers in front of empty buildings and me having to pay part of their ticket prices through the bullsh*t revenue sharing.
There should also be a rule against being able to draft in the top 5 for 3 straight years. |
