Habs fans are the best.
When you guys come to the WFC, it's the only time I can use my awful high school French. |

The Flyers fans sold out a 50,000 seat baseball stadium to watch an outdoor game featuring old guys in what was really less an exhibition game than a walk down memory lane.
Not sure how I can express how pretty amazing that is.
The only other franchises that will top getting attendance to something like that will likely be Original 6 franchises. - johndewar
Agreed. MAYBE the California teams, but at that point it's more about the "cool factor" involved. Not the love of the game... Sorry, but it's true |

Well I hope you guys enjoyed your magical 5 game series.
Best part was the 5-on-5 brawl your goons started, and then promptly lost all 5 fights.
Typical Montreal. |

In a half-seaon, anything was possible and we saw just that...
Given the outlook of both franchises, give me the Flyers any day. Additionally, it's not even comparable when you look at the Atlantic (formerly) and the other divisions in the East. I don't think you'll find anyone who will argue that the Northeast or Southeat divisions rival the competition in the Atlantic... I have no beef with Montreal really, but I just found it funny you actually think there is the chance the Flyers miss the playoffs for approximately 10 seaons... - Flyers_V88

That is not a playoff likely group. Especially if they play in front of dubious goaltending. - spatso
It's a long season. A mid-year trade, a pick up at the trade deadline... One top pair defenseman would make this a top notch group. As almost everyone says - if healthy. The main problem with the Flyers defense isn't talent, it's injuries. This group isn't the same group with Streit added into the mix. Last season (short season), the Flyers list 13 guys who play defense. Names like Konan, Lilja, Huskins, Manning, Lauridsen, Foster, Gervais etc.. played last season. If healthy, none of these guys would see the ice, except on a rare occasion. |

This is a ranking of prospects in the organization... This really has virtually no baring on how the team will perform in the seaon.
As well, the Flyers were even WORSE over the past 10-15 years with prospects and we did just fine and consistently finished ahead of Montreal, so doesn't seem like it's going to be an issue even as Holmer has made some progress with "re-stocking the shelves." |

I'm not ok with it, the last 2 years the team defense has been horrible, debatable trades, questionable signings, downright horrible signings etc. etc. etc.
The Flyers cannot continue to throw huge contracts at 35+ dmen. If you are going to continue to Frank your future then they had better win now.
The entire management structure should be on a very very short lease, ditto for all the coaches. |

They do. Stolarz was one of the top-3 goalies in the OHL this past season. Heeter's a possibility for the future as well.
Presently, they have Ray Emery who, although he was on a very good team, put up teriffic numbers last year. I think they'll be okay. |

As most seasons this is typical concern for fans following the team, but I can say I personally don't feel too worried. I'm confident that both, if not at least one, will grab a large portion of games and roll. Emery, albeit on a bombs team in Chicago, put up excellent numbers and showed he can play at a high level. |

So, your point is that the Flyers win and go to the playoffs more often, and get lower picks? But, they some how find the way to get into the playoffs year over year. Yeah, good point. |

Every major point to this blog is the result of one culprit, yes. But it's not Homer. Snider is the one that has the biggest say in said decisions. |

Good playoff run in 2013.
For such a great team not to have won since 1975 - complete and utter embarrassment. |

The Flyers just got lucky and were able to buy out 2 f***ing horrible contracts. It was proven last year that NO DEPTH IS A SEASON KILLER! Holmgren job is equal short term and long term planning. So far his long term planning has been unacceptable. |

Matt Karash: Which is more ridiculous? The Flyers/Paul Holmgren situation - CarolinaMatt63
At least the Flyers stay interesting, unlike the Canes, right? I'm really not seeing how this is your problem as a Carolina beat writer. For all Homer's short coming, you completely forgot to write about all the good things he's done. I love what Paul Holmgren has done. He screws up and always manages to correct his mistakes. |

As if hockeysfuture is the end all, be all of prospect rankings. That website (frank)ing BLOWS
See, I can bold words for the sake of enthusiasm as well.
As long as were finding players like Matt Read for free in the undrafted college FA market, those rankings can suck my left nut. |

Hey, this season was a bust, what can we do? Most, if not all teams experience them. You can't remain on top forever, it happens to all sports teams. The Flyers have just been lucky to always be in the mix for playoff and Cup contention. The shelves are slowly being re-filled. |
