I always respected & supported our cops but that's gone way of the Do-Do bird. Saw the video, Sammy fell after the 1st 3 shots, probably dead. Than they continued to pump bullets in the dead kid. THan did they need to taser him after?? - GCHonda
Why didn't they barricade the streetcar doors? Why didn't they tase him first? I think most people agree when they see the video, there is no need to shoot there. I've had cops help me when I was the victim of crime and I respect good cops, but bad cops scare the crap out of me. |

He's not getting it done. He thinks you can build subways by reducing city council office budgets. He can blame his predecessor or his opposition or the other levels of government, like every politician does. Either way he hasn't delivered. - Zezel
From purely a spectator point of view I kinda hope in a dark humor way that Adam Vaungh is elected mayor. It would speed up the bankruptcy by years but man it would be a spectacular show I think.

now I know why people hate us leaf fans...I think this all started from a chirping of a red wing fan about Detroit going bankrupt..see, I wasn't being a sensitive p*ssy when I said leave the personal attacks out of it WAY earlier in this thread. This is what you end up with. |

lol yeah....the mayoral elections are just brutal. All the candidates are insane idiots. It's really disheartening and embarrassing. |

last time the flames went to the finals and almost won (or won that puck was in) pre-season odds were 150:1
I knew a guy that through down some money in Vegas on a whim...had him on suicide watch after they "lost"
odds aren't just how they think the team will do by the way...it also has to do with how many people are betting on that team |

Some people don't live on the west coast, and are no longer working.
Don't tell me to go back to work, I am done for the day.

For me the teams at 200 / 1 and 100 / 1 are the biggest sucker bets because the payout is way too low for a very improbable outcome. These teams will likely be out of the playoff race before Christmas. Nice summer story. - Leafsandbolts
CBJ was 200:1 last year...they almost made the playoffs
just saying...really none of these are good bets. Far better odds elsewhere |

The Toronto Board of Health are starting to become my favorite political organization. Casinos, TV shows....what are they going to disapprove of next? Great theater of the absurd.

agreed. Cop handled it horribly. At the same time, I find it amusing that he's a good kid. No good kid pulls a knife and does what he did. Don't let that distract you from my point of the cop went way overboard and should be fired and face some charges.
It's the same with every gang shooting - they're all good kids. - clark_griswold
I'll never condone what the kid did. Pulling a knife, threatning all the passengers on the street car, exposing his wee wee. Either the kid is just plain stupid or he had a bad night. But an 18 year old kid never got a chance to learn from his stupid actions that night. He'll never get a chance to pay the consequences for his actions & redeem himself. Lord knowsus older guys, how many stupid things we were lucky to get away with as teens? When I was 18 & already on probabtion, I did something really stupid that if I had gotten caught, due to already being on probation, I would have went to jail no doubt. I got away with it but I got lucky & I learned my lesson. Sammy never got that chance. |

I always lay a preseason bet on the Flyers, no matter what the odds or what I actually thinks the chances of them winning are. |

This may seem biased as a diehard fan, but I can't believe Anaheim's 20-1... I'd take that bet any day. After the season they had last year, and the youth movement coming forward, Anaheim's future is looking pretty strong. Losing Ryan is pretty poopty only cause I liked him as a player, but between Etem, Palmieri, Silfverberg, Bonino, Rakell and even adding Penner for at least size and playoff experience, Bobby Ryan will not be missed by the end of this season. They still have enough cap space and between Fasth and Gibson, Hiller's 4 million a year contract can easily be moved with Ottawa's 1 round pick to trade for a true star on Defence at the trade deadline... I haven't been this excited going into a season as a Ducks fan since they picked up Pronger and won the cup!!! |

Stl is the sucker's bet, and I say this after every year betting on them to go FAR. They are so deep, and I really like the team overall, but I just don't see how they're ahead of some teams on the list. From a value point of view, Philly or even Carolina is a good LONG shot. |

The approaching public and private pensions are going to be mind blowing, infastructure at all levels has been ignored for decades, and gov't payrolls are getting bigger and bigger. The tax base isn't growing as much as expenditures and "dead money" spending continues to rise. Detroit just started earlier and crashed faster. - Marshalle
phily is in a race with Chicago to see who defaults next and asks the gov to bail them out with more imaginery money printed by benny |

Best sucker bet? Rangers, Habs or the Nucks. |

I always admire the Flyers cause they never stay down for long. However, just not sold on Emery & Mason in goal. Was Emery the benefactor of playing behind the amazing Hawks? |

What does the fact that two teams entered the league the same year have to do with anything? Canucks are a much better team than Buffalo and Toronto. - hankthetank
The same as your Atlanta Thrashers avatar LOL!
not sure if they are better overall than Buffalo BUT there are far more teams listed below them with higher odds that sure as hell better than Vancouver. My point on the two coming in at same time is they've never won a cup and most likely never will....they play for it but choke and the 12-1 is far more generous than really deserved |

How about this: what you did with the stats was clever. Without having to check them, i'm going to assume you counted ALL goalies (ones that played 2, heck 1 game all year). That doesn't count for squat. Clever though. He didn't have the best year but price is your best player hands down.
How about the fact that you have been chirping me all thread, all I've done is give examples for my argument. I've called you out twice: once when you chirped but wouldn't do a head to head top 9 comparison between leafs and habs forwards. The second was when you somehow said I 'made your head spin' when I claimed spezza was the best centre in the Ottawa montreal series, so him being out was a huge loss for Ottawa; and I in fact said parros would help several times while you claimed I said the opposite. You never answered either time.
But you're right, I don't watch hockey. I don't know why I give examples when I can just chirp. |

Like: Kings and Wings. I'd take a shot with the Sens or Isles. Ducks, Canucks, Oilers and Leafs are not good value IMO. |

This place is (frank)ing hilarious. Some people take the love/hate over a (frank)ing sports league way too seriously and personally. |
