Are you trying to say Stamkos is a better hockey player than Carter? - BulliesPhan87
Of course not, I would be insane to ever think that. |

Cause he apparently wasnt any good at it. Or else he would be rifling shots at the net like Stamkos, Ovechkin, Hull, Lindros, Leclair... the list goes on
Same reason Carle doesnt take slappers and just wrist shots from the point - GOA88
no doubt. his wrister was great and clearly his strength
just not sure why you'd say dingo's comment was ridiculous |

Oh. I was going to say, it's kind of an obvious point to make. |

Didn't the Flyers' players used to joke with Carle and call him "Muffin"? LMFAO. |

It isn't like Carter couldn't slap the puck, he just didn't. I have seen the odd slap shot from him in 6 seasons. |

Ok, fair enough. Maybe not ridiculous as much as I love that word but definitely isnt the reason he doesnt take slapshots cause that clearly is a very affective way of scoring and it wasnt like Carters wrist shot was lights out either... |

Well thats not the point I was trying to make, it was why Carter doesnt take slap shots. Same reason somebody wont fight. Cause they arent good at it. |

Which has the better chance of happening first?
Jeff "High 'n' Wide" Carter hitting the net coming down the wing
--- or ---
Matt "Turnstile" Carle stopping a player 1-on-1? |
|
|
|
howabout this one..
create your own personal favorite flyers name by combining two players.
Ill go first...
Vyacheslav MacTavish
'This hulking Russian Scottsman defender led the league in blocked shots with his groin for 4 consecutive seasons. he retired after a venerable nhl career and now runs a successful pierogie and haggis takeout in east villiage.' |

Im going to have to go with Carter hitting the net, thats a tough one for sure but he takes the cake on this one cause I have nightmares of seeing the puck in the back of the net and seeing #25 staring at it.....Too often |

First off, how is Gagne not on this list?
Second, my first memory is when I was under the age of 7 and it was the year Flyers games started being televised on cable. My Dad ordered it a couple days before the season just for that reason, but it could not be set up until after the first game. So my dad and I listened to the game on the radio in our kitchen. |

G, Richards, & Forsberg for me. Seems to be a fairly good consensus with Giroux and Richards...3rd selection was up for grabs. For me, regardless of the limited time Forsberg spent here, including the frustrating ankle issues, I was in awe of his intensity and skill at both ends of the ice when he was here, even in his later years.
Re-watching glimpses of that playoff series vs Buffalo when he was a machine at both ends of the ice and just took over games was what did it for me.
For as much as I appreciate what Briere did for this team and helping us get so close to another Cup, his cluelessness in his own zone always just rubbed me the wrong way.
