I cant believe so many people are overlooking Primeau, he was the man. One of our best captains ever. I would take Primeau as the man he is even with a 19 goal season over Carter or Richards. All these kids think Richards is some god...... Carter and Richards are below Giroux, Primeau, Roenick, Forsberg.....IMO
Although... At this current time I would have liked the top 2 centers to be Giroux and Richards. |

Not getting all the primeau love... - Just5
Primeau was a physical force. He was never the same player after the concussions.
Look at Primeau's 2000-2001 season. 73 points in 71 games. That is a great season, throw in the physical presence, and his defensive/faceoff skills and that season by Primeau is better than any season Briere had by a significant margin. |

Then you would be foolish, Carter is by far the most overrated flyer I've seen in my time - GOA88
Well, I think it would be foolish to vote for JVR over Carter. Just an opinion. Carter was the better player here. And Carter wasn't overrated, but he was definitely underappreciated. He's shown just how good he is the last two Seasons in LA. And he was dam good here. |

Omissions are...
Briere- sorry but you got bought out. Also played a lot of wing here and only was on the top line the first year or two here as center
Forsberg- too small a sample size buddy

There is no rule, but more times then not it goes to a player on the Cup winning team. Which I'm sure you're aware of. - MJL
either way, the team didn't win. i couldn't give a flying (frank) if briere got the smythe or not. there was plenty of talk about primeau being the conn smythe winner even in the toronto series. had that team won game 7 in the ecf, he very likely could have won the trophy if the final was a flyers blow out or if it went deep and they lost. he had that kind of run and it only lasted 3 series. |

That is completely false. If you want to look at each players best single season as a Flyers. In Briere's first Season is Philly, he had 31 goals and 41 assists. Coupled with 16 points in 17 playoff games. So I don't see how that Season for Primeau, was significantly better then any season Briere had. Briere also added a 68 point Season. |

You seem to forget all those empty nets Carter missed, especially in game 6 stanley cup OT. He was also a minus 11 in that series. He danced around the ice, never got in the dirty areas. Couldn't win faceoffs, He is a good player..... but he'll never be a JR. JR=Hall of fame. Carter..... not so much |

just saw a post on FB yesterday that Nystrom's jersey from that game is up for sale. it was hovering around 26k. it's amusing to me that so many people still erroneously believe the Nystrom goal was the offside goal. i'm also amused by flyers haters arguing that because the sutter offside goal only made the game 2-1, it really had no bearing on the outcome and we should get over being "butthurt". this phrase that recently came from i don't know is (frank)ing stupid. - hammarby31
Just terrible luck that the Flyers last 6 Stanley Cup appearances, five were against dynasties. And Chicago is on the verge of becoming one.
One of those wrong place, wrong time things. Of course in 2000, and 2004 Dallas, and Calgary would have been the opponents resulting in at least one Cup, and probably two. |

Well you make my case here.
And what are we discussing here. Each players career in a Flyers uniform? Or overall as a player? Seems you lost sight of that here with the Hall of Fame comments. Of course JR is the better overall player in terms of a full career. I doubt Carter is going to be a Hall of Famer.
And you might want to look at Carter's faceoff percentages in his last few years in a Flyers uniform. Seems as though you don't have the facts there. |

I agree, that 2004 team was the best Flyers team we had since the Lindros/Leclair days. The flyers were so banged up and players playing with concussions (I.E. Primeau, Roenick) they had to put Sami Kapanen on defense!!!! and we still almost beat the cup champs. That was bad luck... that would have been our year. And as far as 2000 goes. If Lindros didnt take that dirty hit from Stevens he would be a cup champ too. |

yep. i appreciate briere's contributions. he has some big moments as a flyer. i just connect to primeau more. simple as that. - hammarby31
This all the more puzzling as you should see eye to eye with Briere -- because you're the same height.

Get off Carters junk, you seem to be the only one here that thinks so highly of him. Carter was good, but he never had the all around game of JR, even in a flyers uniform. |

I went with G, Richards and Forsberg. 1.5 seasons of Forsberg is still better than most players in 3 seasons.
I would pick Primeau for 4th line center. |

I disagree. Carter was a good two-way player. He played on the PK and was a solid faceoff man.
JR was a seasoned veteran by the time he came to the Flyers, but his two-way game throughout his career wasn't always the greatest.
The knock on Carter was that he didn't dominate games like he should with his natural ability. He seemed to want to play Robin. He, also, didn't elevate his game in the playoffs like Richards and G do. |

Fair or not, my lasting impression was him not burying the goal late in Game 6. It's not fair, but when someone mentions him, that's the first thing that comes to mind. |

I wish Carter had embraced the move to wing while he was here rather than when he was in LA. |

JR was definitely a better player in his career. But Carter was a solid all around player in his own right here. Very solid defensively, as well as being a top goal scorer in the League. Very good on faceoffs, and could play in all situations. And Carter was better defensively here then JR was. It's a shame Carter was so limited by injuries here in the playoffs. As he has shown the last 2 Seasons in LA what he can do in the playoffs when healthy.
I have no problem with anyone viting for JR. He was great here, and gave his all. |

Thats the reason I couldnt care less about Carter. Richards on the other hand was the player I wish we kept. My point is this and clearly just an opinion. Roenick even as a seasoned vet gave more to the flyers than Carter ever did. He just popped in some goals.... he had no heart, didnt play physical enough, played the perimeter....
I mean we are talking about the flyers here right??? Carter isnt your typical flyers breed we expect. |
